Chapter twenty-nine
"Maa!" Jaanvi yelled for Zevah as tears stained her face. She quickly grabbed her phone and called Aditya.
"Look who's calling me—"
"P-Paa," She sobbed into the phone not caring about anything else. She heard some shuffling from his side before he spoke, "Jaave? What's wrong? Why are you crying?"
"It's-it's Ayaansh. He's not well. I need to take him to the hospital. Paa, please tell me which is the best hospital so I can take him." She was a blubbering mess till now and her mind wasn't working straight.
She tried everything to wake up Ayaansh. Shook him, sprinkled water on him and even checked if his heart was still beating by resting her head on his chest even if it was the scariest thing she had to do. He was breathing but then why would he faint suddenly?
"Jaave, you need to relax first and tell me what happened?" Aditya asked in a calm voice. Jaanvi took a deep breath and told him everything about Ayaansh arriving at her room and then how he fainted.
"Alright, I'm giving you the address of the hospital but you have to stay calm and drive there. Do you understand me, Jaave?" She nodded urgently, mumbling a small 'yes' into the phone. "Or wait, scratch that. Mishkat will be there to drive the both of you to the hospital. Your mom must've gone to pick up Zavi from school so you'll have to do this on your own. Don't panic, don't be scared. I'll be there at the hospital when you reach there, okay?" Aditya explained and Jaanvi felt a little at ease when she heard that Mishkat will be there.
After the call ended, she went out and waited for Mishkat to arrive which he did in about eight minutes. The man wasted no time and asked Jaanvi where her room was to which she asked him to follow her.
While Mishkat carried Ayaansh to the car, Jaanvi decided to hold out the door of the backseat open so that it's easy to place him on the seat. She then placed Ayaansh's head onto her lap and settled in the backseat.
"Can we please hurry?" She asked in a wobbly voice and Mishkat only nodded driving out of there.
When they reached the hospital, Ayaansh was taken on the stretcher and as promised Aditya was already there along with Sahil. As they took him inside, she ran towards her father and hugged him tight.
Aditya held his daughter close knowing she would be scared. He couldn't decipher what he felt after listening to her cry into the phone like that. And to make things worse, it was Ayaansh so he quickly informed Sahil who wasted no time in hanging up and driving to the hospital. When he reached the hospital, Sahil was already there and anxiously waiting for his son to arrive. The last time Aditya had seen his best friend so worked up was when Kiara was born and the doctors had informed him that Srishti's condition had worsened and she might slip into coma. The man was more agitated than heartbroken and he had threatened to destroy the whole hospital if his wife didn't wake up in the next few hours. Luckily for everybody there, Srishti was a damn fighter and she woke up soon after.
"It's alright Jaave. He'll be fine." Aditya stroked her back as she hid her face in his chest. His eyes went to Sahil who hadn't stopped pacing around and talking on the phone with someone.
Jaanvi sniffed, "He has to be, Paa. He has to be fine." She mumbled, her voice breaking in the end and Aditya was confused. Something was definitely wrong. There was more to the picture than what it looked like.
As Sahil got off the phone, his eyes met Aditya's and the pain lingering in them unsettled Aditya. He asked Jaanvi to sit on the bench and not think much about the negative outcomes before he walked towards Sahil.
