Chapter six
Aditya had never been so afraid in his life. All sorts of negative things came to his mind when he saw those many missed calls from Zevah. How the fuck could he put his phone on silent when he knew what were the emergencies at times like these.
He didn't waste a second to leave for home, all the while trying to reach her. But dammit, when she didn't pick up, his heartbeats increased and sweat broke out on his face. He couldn't just relax until he saw her safe and sound. She had to be fine.
As he rushed inside the mansion, eyes wild and unfocused, he yelled her name. When he finally found her with Jaanvi beside her, a sigh of relief left his mouth. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, to calm his anxious heart.
When he opened his eyes, they connected with hers. Her eyes were filled with warmth as she assured him that she was fine.
"What happened? Are you okay?" He breathed out once he reached near her. Just as Zevah opened her mouth to respond, someone else came barging in, startling the three of them.
Jaanvi watched as Srishti looked around frantically before her eyes focused on Zevah. "Oh thank God," she breathed out in relief. A minute later Ayaansh followed her with Kiara in his arms.
He watched the scenario before him and then his eyes met hers. Jaanvi didn't look away and held his gaze until Kiara wiggled in his arms and he had to put her down.
Surprisingly she ran towards Jaanvi and hugged her legs. Crouching down she lightly flicked Kiara's nose, "Hii!" Kiara giggled and copied her.
"Zevah, can you tell us what happened?" Jaanvi heard Srishti asking. "Why was Jaanvi panicking so much?" She looked at her mother who sighed and rested her head on Aditya's shoulder.
As Zevah explained then what the situation was, Jaanvi felt the need to apologise to both of them, for freaking them out.
She went ahead and cleared her throat, "I'm sorry Dad. Tee, I'm sorry for scaring you both. I just couldn't understand what to do when Maa was in so much pain. I swear I wouldn't have troubled you if Dad had picked up and then Ayaan—" She stopped and took a deep breath.
She knew he was watching her but ignoring his stare, she focused on what was important. "I'm sorry for worrying everyone." Jaanvi let out a sigh and didn't have the courage to look at anyone.
"Jaave, it's fine," Aditya assured his daughter as his hand caressed Zevah's arm. He was still trying to make sure she was safe. "I should be the one apologising. I should've picked up the phone knowing I cannot be reckless during this time." He really felt guilty and blamed himself for not being there on time when his family needed him the most.
"Okay, enough with the self-blaming," Srishti jumped in the conversation. "Since we all are here and Zevah is fine, let's drop the matter. Okay?" She looked around at everyone's face for their reaction.
Jaanvi nodded and Aditya sighed in response but agreed.
"Jaanvi," she flinched as she noticed Ayaansh standing beside her. She didn't even realise when he walked up to her. "Can I talk to you for a minute?" He seemed awkward and it made her awkward as well.
She's bit here lip and looked at her parents who were busy chatting away with Srishti. Kiara was playing with her mother's ring, babbling something to herself. Seeing that there was no option to avoid him, she sighed and nodded.
