It didn't take long to make it the rest of the way to my house. The air around us seemed lighter and exciting compared to the awkwardness we had earlier. Even though I was nervous and scared about getting my heart involved in something that had the potential to hurt me again, I was also a little excited at the thought of something new.

New Beginnings. That's what this new home was supposed to be about.

"So what exactly did I get myself caught in this evening," I asked when we reached the front door.

"I guess you'll have to wait and find out," Shouta said with a small chuckle.

"Real helpful," I lightly sighed as I turned the key and stepped inside.

"I did try to warn you and tell you that you can tell them no." He said not straying too far from my heels as I made my way to the kitchen. "Just if Midnight offers you a drink do so with utmost caution. She tends to experiment with different liquors and makes horrible concoctions."

"Is she always so...uh..." I stop walking trying to find a word to describe the woman without seeming rude. "Ahh.. forward?"

"You haven't even seen the worst of it. If it makes you uncomfortable you need to be straight forward about. She will ease up some." Shouta said as we entered the kitchen.

"I think it made me more uncomfortable because you were in the room as well," I chucked nervously "I just couldn't focus at all today."

"Do I make you nervous," I heard him ask quietly.

"You do." I said honestly "But not in a bad way. It's more like an excited nervousness."

We both got quiet after that and I made my way into the living room in order to straighten up the futon that laid on the floor. There wasn't much of a mess, so other than moving some boxes out of the way so that we could move the bigger furniture in when it arrived, there wasn't much to do. I took the futon and placed it into the upstairs closet and when I made it back down into the kitchen I noticed Shouta had a piece of paper in his hand.

"Is a friend getting married?" He asked holding it up to me. When I didn't take it from him immediately he looked at me closer "Not going?"

"You can toss it in the trash over there please," I said in a strained voice. I was doing my best to not let the irritation at the invite seem like I was upset with him. However he must have noticed my tension before doing as I asked.

"So not a friend?" He asked curiously as he sat down in the floor leaning up against the island.

"Not at all," I shook my head. "More like the reason I went drinking last night in the first place." I sat down beside him our legs touching.

"I should thank him then," He said reaching his hand over and grabbing at my own gloved one. My head twisted so quickly to look over at him to see his expression that I swore I broke my own neck in the process. His face didn't betray any emotion though. Whether he was joking or completely serious. Because of this I couldn't help the roaring laughter that escaped my lips.

It'd been a long time since I had been able to laugh so freely and the situation not even being funny made it even worse. It took several minutes before my laughter died down but not before my side had begun to hurt and tears pricked at the corner of my eyes.

When I looked back over at the man who was still holding my hand I couldn't tell if he thought I was slightly crazy or not. If he did, he probably wouldn't be too far wrong. "Please do." I said smiling at him my canines showing completely. "It'd be the perfect revenge on the bastard."
