Chapter 3
"Kobe?"
Gail couldn't believe it.
The person who stood in front of her wasn't the one who caused nor wanted her to suffer, but one of her classmates. She had never felt more relieved.
"You've got to help me," Gail sobbed, " Someone locked me in here and my hands are stuck!"
Kobe just stood there, doing nothing.
'He must be in shock or something.' Was what Gail thought.
She started getting concerned. "Kobe? Are you okay?"
Those words seemed to pull him out of his trance.

"God damn it, Edward! Run faster!"
Edward was breathing heavily and looked like he would faint right then and there.
"I can't! I'm going as fast as I can!" he yelled.
The thing the Tormundia younglings all had wanted to avoid was happening. They were running for their lives with an angry troll-guard right behind them.
Liesa and Jaron both had wings so they were quite safe up there. Jaron fired his arrows at the troll as quick as possible, but though they hit their purpose, Munnings only got slowed down by a bit.
Nina had turned into her impressive dragon form. She was a huge, beautiful land-dragon who left everyone in awe. Her scales were a scarlet red and her wings a tint of orange. She was also flying and not running like the unlucky without wings currently were.
Yet there were only three people who were actually running. Those three consisted of Amber, Amandine and of course, Edward.
Matthieu had morphed into a black horse so the rest of the humans sat either on his or Vic's, the centaur's, back.
The bad thing was that there were only a few feet between the sprinting humans and the troll and that everyone could see that all three of them were getting very tired, very fast.
When all hope seemed to be lost a random puddle of water, a reminder of the heavy storm of the day before, suddenly started rising and formed some sort of shield between the troll and the younglings.
Liesa, who was to thank for this, made another movement with her hands and the water froze.
Munnings, who hadn't been able to stop in time, bumped into the ice and fell down to the ground face-first. After that he didn't move anymore.
I always particularly like this part of the story. You have to know that Munnings was a big bully who liked to get angry at everyone without a solid reason. He deserved a good hit on the head.
"Way to go, Liesa!" Jaron cheered.
And with that he, Nina and Liesa descended again. Edward fell down on the ground out of exhaustion and poor Amber and Amandine bent over, putting their hands on their knees for support.
When Fien, Tessa, Anaïs and Roxanne had also gotten off the backs of Vic and Matthieu it was time to continue their way.
"Where are we headed now?" Fien asked, looking around for someone to answer.
"The best thing we can do now is going to the police. We should report Kenneth, Gail and Kobe as missing. Then we can all go home, I suppose," Anaïs said.
"You're kind of forgetting about the fact that everyone just skipped school and that we also attacked one of our superiors," Roxanne said.
Anaïs sighed. "Well, we'll have to face the consequences later."
They had run all the way to the edge of the capital city, Artonos. Their trip to the police station only took another ten minutes.
The younglings entered and nervously headed towards the desk.
When the lady who sat there didn't acknowledge their presence, Nina scraped her throat. The police lady looked up.
"Can I help you?"
After that one sentence everyone knew that they had come across another siren, but this one not as nice as Amber.
Police officers were often sirens, because that way they could get information out of people very easily. Once they had captured a suspect the only thing they needed to do was bring them in trance and interrogate them.
Nina took the word.
"We've come to report the disappearance of three of our classmates. Kobe, Gai-"
"Shut it. First tell me how long they have been gone," the lady rudely interrupted.
"Well, Gail disappeared only yesterday, but Kobe and Kenne-"
The lady stopped her again.
"I'm sorry, but a person can only be reported as missing when the week is over."
Nina started getting frustrated.
"I was about to say that our friends Kenneth and Kobe have been gone for about three weeks!"
"Okay, young lady. No need to get impolite. We'll put them in the dossier as missing and as soon as the week is over we'll go and look for the three of them at the same time. Seeing as they probably are all hiding somewhere together we'd only be wasting time otherwise."
That made absolutely no sense to any of the younglings.
That's why they were more than furious when they exited the police station two minutes later.
"I can't believe the police won't do anything until next Tuesday!" Tessa complained.
"I know! Gail would never voluntarily run away. I bet they've been kidnapped and are now in serious trouble!" Amandine said.
Matthieu, who had been staring at the ground deep in thought, suddenly looked up. "Maybe we shouldn't leave this to the police."
"What do you mean?"
"Maybe we should take matter into our own hands and go find them ourselves," Matthieu said.
"I mean, think about it! We're a bunch of amazingly talented younglings! Plus, the police won't do anything until next Tuesday. By then our friends could be dead for all we know! I say we unite our powers and save them together."
It was quiet for a while.
People stole glances at each other's faces and seemed thoughtful. But something new also appeared. Determination.
And that was the moment someone spoke up. I don't remember who it was because frankly it could've been anyone at that time. But I will always remember the words that started an amazing adventure.
"Let's do it."
