Chapter 17
As Gail was staring at Jorah she still couldn't believe it. Her friends had been looking for her and Kenneth all his time. They hadn't just forgotten about them and moved on with their lives. They truly cared.
This made her so unbelievably happy that she felt like she could take on the world. Heck, she felt like she was able to knock out Kobe with one good punch.
"Gail? Gail?" Jorah pulled her out of her thoughts.
"Yeah?"
"I've been trying to get your attention for a while now," he said, "Do you think you would be able to distract Kobe while your friends save Kenneth and the other hostages? I'll make sure the front door is unlocked so they can get in without making any noise."
Gail wasn't too sure. She had absolutely no clue how she was going to mislead someone as shrewd as Kobe. Even though she had her doubts she nodded.
"I'll try my best," she said, coming off more confident than she actually was.
Jorah smiled encouragingly before continuing his silent conversation.
After a minute or so, he seemed to have finished.
"We're getting you out of here, Gail," Jorah said excitedly.
Gail beamed.
"Come on, then! Tell me the plan!" she egged him on.
After rolling his eyes Jorah started explaining : "Three days from now, your friends will arrive at the castle. I'll have unlocked the front door so they won't have any trouble getting in. You will make sure Kobe doesn't see them. They will first go the kitchen, where I will be waiting for them. Together we will first rescue Kenneth and then free the others. That way we're sure Kobe's plan can't go through. After having brought everyone in safety they will come back and overpower Kobe. Even a half-demon, half-guardian angel isn't strong enough to take on every single one of your supernatural friends."
Gail's smile nearly got as big as Jorah's. The plan was brilliant. She would finally be getting out of there.
"It's perfect, Jorah! I'll finally be going home!"
--
Kobe felt fury well up inside him as the voice in his head told him more about the younglings' so called "plan". Not only was he angry about the fact that his own plans were being sabotaged, he also felt a bit insulted that he hadn't known of their presence in his own world.
Suddenly he realised what this meant and he grinned. He had been wrong, this wasn't a catastrophe at all. It was wonderful.
In three days everything would be over. The ritual would finally be completed.
He only needed to change a few things.
--
Two days later
Gail frantically ran through the kitchen, looking under every table and opening every closet. Yet she still couldn't find Jorah.
"Where is he?" she muttered to herself.
She felt panic rush through her body. Since yesterday Jorah had completely disappeared. He hadn't said a thing, nor had he left a note.
Not to mention the fact that her friends would arrive at the castle tomorrow and that she couldn't carry out the plan on her own.
Exiting the kitchen she decided to check the other places in the castle, though carefully skipping that one forbidden room. She used her wings to quasi-fly through the air and go a bit quicker, but it had no use. Jorah obviously was no longer in the castle.
