Epilogue

"Are you sure that you don't want to stay any longer?" Emmie asked the younglings.

"We're good, Ems, thanks anyway," Vic said, before giving the 212 year old a hug.

Liesa, Nina and Vic had successfully kept the humans from doing things they would later regret without hurting them. (Though Fien claimed that her butt still hurt from falling down on ice so many times.) When the fight against Matthieu had ended Kobe had immediately rushed outside to break the curse, something the three younglings had been very thankful for.

Gail stepped forward next.

"We're going to miss you so much! All three of you! You must come and visit often, okay?" she sobbed, hugging Emmie, Kevin and Kobe one by one.

Kobe chuckled.

"You ain't gonna miss us, kid. You'll be too busy kissing your boyfriend to even notice the world around you," he pestered.

Gail hit his shoulder and was about to give him a what would probably have been an amazing comeback when Jorah distracted her by kissing her. Jorah, her new boyfriend, had never been happier when he had found his parents among the hostages. In fact, he had been so euphoric that he had grabbed Gail and had snogged the life out of her.

Kobe let out a laugh again.

"Point proven," he jokingly said.

Jorah scraped his throat.

"Well, uhm. Thanks again, mate. You know, for rescuing Gail and all," he awkwardly said to Kobe who gave him a pat on the back.

"That's okay. And I'm sorry about everything I did to you, Gail." Kobe said guiltily.

Gail gave him another hug.

"I owe my life to you. You have nothing to be sorry about."

Gail then frowned.

"Have you found something yet? To cure Kora?"

Both Kobe and Emmie shook their heads.

"We haven't," Emmie said sadly," And she hasn't got much time left."

Kevin grabbed her hand.

"But we'll keep looking. We'll find something," he said.

Gail nodded, unsure as to what to say.

"We're going to start the summoning now, Gail," Amber yelled and Gail slowly turned around, not wanting to leave the castle and her new friends behind her.

But seeing her old friends all huddled together made her realise that everything would be all right. She wasn't losing her new friends by leaving with her old ones. They were a family, and family sticks together.

As soon as she sat down Amber spoke the words that started it all : "Strigae vocantur."

And once again the candles rose high, before being extinguished. The smoke drifted together again and formed the bodies of the three witches of the Interval.

This time they seemed a lot happier than when they first met.

"We're so happy that everything has worked out," Shauni said wholeheartedly and the other witches nodded.

"We know what you went through and we're more than happy to be able to help you by transporting you back to Fortania," Alda said.

"But, there's something else," Kelsey said happily.

The three witches turned towards Kobe, Emmie and Kevin.

"We heard about your sister and how she is very ill because of a curse," Kelsey explained.

"Being a witch of the Interval has its perks of course," Alda said, "One of them being that we have access to all the knowledge in the world. Surely we can reverse one stupid curse."

Jaron watched how Kobe and Emmie started crying out of pure happiness. He watched how his friends were all talking happily about the good news. He watched how Gail and Jorah kissed.

And he thought back to Amandine and smiled too.

He would be happy again one day, like he had promised her he would be.

These people were his family. A family that would help him get through this, no matter how long it took.

And Jaron smiled. He smiled, because Amandine died for the thing he was now living for.
