Jonah's POV:
As they shut us away in the dungeons again my heart hammered in my chest and my hands turned into fists at my sides.I heard that elderly woman telling Anastasia the king wanted her.
If he laid a single finger on her...
I slammed my fist to the wall next to me in anger and watched dust fall to my feet.
"Stop! You'll only injure yourself even more."
"Who cares Landon!" I snapped. "It's been a week and we haven't even left the dungeons! We failed this rescue mission and we will most likely fail in the war! So you know what? Let me fucking die. There's nothing left for me anymore!"
I wanted to continue shouting to tell him that if Anastasia's gone so is our hope of ever getting out of here. Even if we were to get out without her I wouldn't care about anything anymore or even about winning this goddamned war.
He sighed frustrated. "You know it sucks having you here with me. We are supposed to be hopeful and patient... you only make me want to kill myself."
I slumped down to the floor and nodded.
"Wow sorry I didn't know I was here for your entertainment. Want to pray to the gods above to save us?" I asked sarcastically.
He rolled his eyes and shrugged. "I'm going to sleep."
I did the same considering there wasn't anything else left to do.
My last thought was of Anastasia. Please be okay.

I heard some low whispers and footsteps. I woke up and coughed covering my nose and mouth with my hand. I look in front of me to see Landon doing the same and standing on wobbly feet.I stood too and looked around. There was so much smoke I couldn't see what was going on.
I knew there was no fire because I'd smell it so where's this smoke come from?
The soldiers were sitting and...asleep?
Then I did the first thing I could think of and reached my arm through the bars to grab one of the soldiers keys.
"What are you doing? What if they wake up Jonah?" Landon asked me afraid.
I ignored Landon and continued reaching for it. I had my face pressed against the cold steel and I reached and reached. My finger managed to hook onto the key and I pulled.
It released immediately and I worked quickly to let myself out. My fingers were surprisingly steady as I pushed open the cell and walked out.
The smoke was starting to clear and I saw two cloaked figures in front of me. What the hell?
I hoped it wasn't soldiers as I unlocked Landon's cell. "You go! If they grab you there's no way you're leaving again!" He told me but I wasn't leaving him here.
My friend, my advisor and the only person who actually cared about me. Not even my brothers...
I turned just as the door opened and Landon stumbled out.
One of the cloaked figures lifted their cloak's hood and revealed the most beautiful face I'd ever seen.
I don't think I was ever happier to see anyone in my life.
"Anastasia?" I called out.
She smiled and threw her arms around me. I wrapped my arms around her waist and inhaled her scent. I sighed content that she was okay.
Serena stood beside her she locked eyes with Landon and he blinked a few times. Anastasia stepped beside me and we watched them as they slowly walked over to each other.
"You're my mate." He said at last.
Oh.
Serena nodded with a smile. Then her eyes widened as if remembering where we were. "Oh we have to go now!"
Anastasia and I nodded and I took her hand in mine as we ran out of the dungeons and into the heart of the beast itself.
I didn't once let go nor was I planning to. I was never letting her go again.
Ever.
