Anastasia's POV:
I couldn't go hunting at another time?

I went hunting for my dinner, luckily I found a few rabbits. Don't get me wrong I absolutely hate hunting and killing animals but I don't have much of a choice, the land around my cabin isn't suited for gardening. Plus a girl's gotta eat.

But of course, I just had to stumble upon these two. Well, Landon's not so bad but Jonah...

Correction Prince Jonah because he probably will slice my head off for not calling him by his proper title.

He's sort of handsome but it's a shame he'll get so many wrinkles quickly. Especially if he keeps frowning and glaring at people the way he does. Brows furrowed, lips in a tight line, those narrowed blue eyes and his spine so straight it looks like he was born with a steel rod there instead of actual bone.

I hate people like that.

However, it might come to my advantage that he's a prince. That means he has money.

Not that I plan on marrying him and taking his fortune. God ew.

I am not capable of being royalty, my cabin is enough for me. But I do need money for other things.

For one King Santiago has a bounty on my head. A very expensive one. Many people are after me including the king and his soldiers. My cabin's secluded enough but I know I'll have to move eventually. It's been this way for many years now.

Running, looking over my shoulder and mostly being alone.

Before my parents died they had a debt with King Santiago but since they died their debt is now mine and I have no money to pay for it. I don't have a single penny to my name. I refused to pay and now I'm suffering the consequences.

I also don't have any living family which means no one can help me.

This war is taking King Santiago's focus away from finding me so I'm a bit relieved however this prince coming along might be good for me after all.

I'll take him wherever he needs to go and in exchange, he'll pay off my debt.

That simple.

Well, at least I hope so.

***

After eating my dinner I laid down to sleep, the only light in the small room coming from the fire. Landon moved to the floor and Jonah was now trying and failing to make himself comfortable on the sofa.

Wow if that's what it means to serve royalty... giving up your bed or something close to that just to have to sleep on the floor... that's pathetic.

Landon's light snores filled the room and I felt bad that I was somewhat comfortable in my bed and he wasn't.

I glanced at Jonah whose eyes were now closed and he had his arms crossed over his broad chest. His feet were off the sofa since he didn't fully fit.

I don't feel bad for that guy.

I turned on my side away from Jonah and gripped a dagger to my chest, I was still wary of him. Who knows what he might be planning. I had to be ready for anything.

He scoffed. "You won't need that dagger. I don't bother killing mice." He said without even opening an eye.

I kept my retort to myself pretending I didn't hear him.

What a jerk!
