Anastasia's POV:
I was standing in Jonah's bedroom. I wore a nightgown and slippers. He had told Landon and I to meet him here because he had some news.Something told me it wasn't of the good kind.
He walked into the room sighing and I turned to meet his eyes. They looked me up and down slowly and I felt his gaze burn through my dress. The air was thick and the sides of his mouth went up slightly.
I crossed my arms and glared at him.
Pervert.
"So whats the news?" Landon asked probably trying to diffuse any tension in the air.
He tore his eyes away from me and said. "Redwood is going to be attacked."
What?
I sat down on his vanity's chair and he was immediately at my side. Worry was etched into his face and I couldn't believe this was happening.
These people were so good to me. The last thing they deserve is to die.
"I won't let anything happen to them, okay? The king is sending his men to evacuate the women and children. Your grandmother and Elise will be here soon." Jonah said.
I nodded. "Thank you." He wrapped his arms around my waist and I wrapped mine around his neck. He was kneeled down in front of me between my legs. I held on tight despite hearing a knock at the door.
I felt safe in his arms and I didn't want to let go.
Landon opened it and Jonah pulled away to see who it was.
King Nicholas. I recognized him and his lazy smile.
What was he doing here?
He strutted inside and shut the door behind him. He walked over to me and grabbed my right hand since the other was bandaged and kissed my knuckles without breaking eye contact.
His dark brown eyes sent a shiver down my spine and I understood why all those women were crushing on him. He was very handsome.
"Anastasia. Just as beautiful as the last time I saw you."
I put my hand back on my lap and stood. "Thank you I'm flattered."
Jonah just narrowed his eyes at Nicholas who wouldn't stop staring at me.
He smiled and nodded. "I could give you a night to remember gorgeous." He leaned in and whispered in my ear and I had a feeling only I could hear his next words. "I could have you screaming all night... that pretty little nightgown would be in shreds in seconds if they left us alone here."
Ha! Okay sure... He's handsome but he's all talk.
"Oh, I'm sure you can..." I said sarcastically.
King Nicholas laughed and winked sitting down on the edge of the bed with his legs open, his elbows resting on them as he watched me.
He glanced at Landon. "You and that Princess... Serena, was it? What's going on there?"
I sat across from Nicholas on the vanity's chair and looked at Landon waiting for an answer.
"Nothing of your concern." He answered.
"Now Nicholas why are you here?"
He glanced at me and licked his lips and turned back to Jonah. I laughed and shook my head.
Wow, he was really trying.
Landon awkwardly stood next to Jonah who scowled and grabbed my arm. "And it's time for you to go to sleep." He said pushing me out of the room and slamming the door.
"Hey!" Nobody opened the door again.
What the hell?
It was all just a joke...
