Chapter 8

After a long time spending me and Dazai in the underground to clear our crimes, we were able to live a 'normal' life in the light, working in the armed detective agency.

The armed detective agency is a special organization who solves crimes too difficult and too dangerous for the metropolitan police to handle. What makes them even more special, is that every member of the agency has an ability.

Expect of one person. Ranpo Edogawa. He was the only person in the agency who didn't had an ability but he indeed was the smartest person there.

When I first started working there, my job always was to examine the crime scenes along with Ranpo and solve them. The idea of being a crime detective was very interesting so I started reading books about psychology and human nature.

"What are you reading Ito-chan?" Asked Ranpo eating another one of his candies. "I am reading about human psychology Ranpo-san." I replied taking one of my own as I also was a sweet tooth person.

"Do you want to study Psychology Ito-chan?" Asked my boss Fukuzawa and I nodded as he continued. "Why don't you try to enter the University?" My eyes widened. "H-huh?? I will never be able to enter such a great and big University!" "But you are smart enough to even keep up with Ranpo. You are also interested in human psychology so I believe that wouldn't be a problem for you." Smiled Fukuzawa at me and Ranpo nodded along with it.

Those months after leaving the Port Mafia, I would take extra lessons so I could take my school certificate. But going to the University was something out of my mind.

"Hey Osamu...do you believe I can enter the University in Yokohama?" I asked Dazai in my free time, as I had just finished with the paperwork. "I believe that you can. You are smart enough Ito-chan but very oblivious at the same time. But I think you can enter the University nonetheless." He said laying down on the sofa.

"Well I was thinking about it today and I wasn't sure if I can or not but If I could I would be very happy... Wait, how am I oblivious?" I deadpanned as he just laughed at me. "Don't worry about that. You just do your best. I am sure everything will work out." I smiled even tho he didn't answered my question.

"But...I don't think I have a reason to keep going Dazai. I do, I really do want to keep on living. I want to go into the University. I want to keep working here. But I don't think I deserve something like that." I said after a while. "I thought the same thing." Said Dazai now feeling the atmosphere getting heavy.

"I always believed that I didn't had a reason to live. But...with you, Odasaku and Ango, I thought I had found it. I still have you Ito-chan and you have me. Let's keep on living together or either commit a double suicide together!" He said becoming once again his cheerful self.

I smiled at him and looked outside of the window. The busy streets filled with life, something we are fighting for. "Let's keep on living together. For Odasaku." He gave a closed-eyed smile. "Let's."

"Hey Dazai. I am also thinking about going to find Aoi." I already told Dazai about my childhood friend so he knew who I am referring to. "Sure but you have to be careful. We don't want the Port Mafia know where you are." I nodded. "Sure thing."

A month after, a new organization from the Europe attacked the agency. They were going by the name 'Valerian' and the members, according Fukuzawa, had also supernatural abilities.

"Ito-chan. Valerian is after you, so you need to be extra careful. Thanks to Ranpo-kun, we are sure they will attack us in two days. Have your eyes open in any case something happens. Be prepared." I nodded tightening my fists.

And as he said, they were here. They were separated in squads attacking deferent parts of the agency. The front line was right outside of the building with Kenji and me outside to protect it. There was also a squad in the air, due to an ability user, attacking the agency from the windows. Osamu, Yosano and Kunikida were inside to defeat the people who would get inside.
