I set my phone down and lay on the couch at the ceiling, if I wasn't worried about her finding out about my feelings then, I sure am now. I guess my Friday isn't so boring after all. After a while, I turn over and finally fall asleep.
When the morning hits, I'm immediately up to make some food, I don't really have guests, other than Ryan, so I don't tend to worry about it.
"Good morning," Bella walks out, her face red and puffy.
"Morning, I made some eggs and toast, I hope that's ok?"
"That's great, thank you."
We both make up plates before she breaks the silence, "I'm sorry for just showing up last night."
"It's honestly no problem, I wasn't doing anything too crazy anyway," what a way to come across as boring.
Though I don't want to pry, I decide to see if I can learn anything, "do you want to talk about what happened last night?"
"Not really, if that's alright. It was just an argument with my dad and step mom."
"Oh, okay," I hesitate for a moment, "do you need to stay for another night?"
"I really don't wish to impose."
"You're not imposing, trust me. My parents aren't really around, so I've pretty much got the place to myself."
"That must be nice, having the ability to be yourself, without needing to hide it from anyone."
"Yeah, I guess it's alright."
"So, do you want to do some work on the project today?"
"Sure, I just need to tidy up the kitchen quick."
Bella stood up and immediately offered to help. When we are finished, we begin to gather our stuff. Only two hours of work, and we are completely done the project.
"Hey, I want to show you something," I stand up and glance outside, "it's not to bad a day out, just a little bit of wind."
"Oh, okay."
"Did you have a sweater?"
Bella shakes her head. So I reach into the closet, "here, you can use one of mine, it might be a bit big though."
She puts it on and pulls up the hood, "thanks."
"Of course," I grab my keys and my bag, then open the door.
While we walk, I worry a little. She may find me completely weird, or may share this with other people. However, because of last night, I'm trusting her with it.
"Isn't this that place from yesterday?" Bella looks around at the open area within the trees, with the rocks that sit a mere two feet from one another.
"Yeah, the kids don't actually hang out here..." I don't know what she'll say, but it's a not as big of a deal as I once thought, "I hang out here to relax, and be alone if my parents are at home."
"It's really beautiful," she sits down on one of the rocks.
"I'm glad you think so," I grin a little.
We decide to exchange numbers, just in case she has other nights that she needs to stay over. We proceed to talk and hang out in that area into the evening, I had thrown some "picnic" type foods in my bag just before we left. As it's gets later, it begins to get chilly, "do you want to head back to my place?"
"Uh.. yeah."
As we start to walk, I realize I don't have my keys, "I have to run back to the rocks, I think I dropped the keys."
"Oh, do you want me to come with you?"
"No, it's ok. We aren't to far from it, go ahead, I'll catch up."
She nods and I start heading back. As I reach the rocks, I see the shine from the keys. After grabbing them, I turn around to Bella. She looks nervous. All I can think is, "was Ryan right? Is this how I die?"
As I go to say something, she leans in fast. Her lips press against mine. She kisses me! I hesitate for a moment on whether I should do the same, and I do. It all happened so fast. Her lips were soft and moved swiftly. I was still confused. It felt like forever in that moment, before she pulls away.
I open my mouth to say something, but she turns around and runs. I decided against running after her and just head home. While I walk, I mutter to myself, "what just happened? Does she like me? Is this some sort of joke? I know she saw my flag. Now what?"
I unlock the door and throw my bag down. I lock up and head to my bed. When I lay down, it smells like Bella. I set my phone on my end table, and turn over. What a day.
