We eat, and surprisingly don't even have the trip to my house mentioned. When we finish up, Mrs. Jeffery heads out, to go meet up with a friend. The three of us go into Ryan's room and play some races. Bella is really good at it, but Ryan at least got a win in there. After one of the races Ryan pauses the game and turns to me.
"Are you going to school tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I thought about not going today, but I actually feel pretty good, so I'm good going tomorrow."
"That's good then, I wasn't too sure since you hadn't come upstairs when you guys got back."
"I honestly just needed to relax a bit after going home and I'm good now," I look down at the controller, "alright, are we talking or playing?"
"Playing. Let's do this."
We all get into it, and Bella absolutely destroyed us in the next few races.
"Damn," I can't help being surprised with how much better she's gotten. "You are doing absolutely amazing at the races."
"Thanks," she chuckles.
I nudge Ryan, "I think she's managed to get better at this is a day than you have in years.
He side eyes me, but still grins—not hiding it very well.
Ryan glances at his phone, "shit. Shit."
"What?"
"It's almost 9:30, and a weeknight. Mom should be home any minute."
"How does your mom manage to be so punctual?"
Ryan looks at Bella, "I have never figured it out, but I'm not looking to have her angry at me."
She looks at me, "didn't Mrs. Jeffery come downstairs last night, while you were still watching the movie?"
"Yup."
"She didn't say anything?"
Ryan pipes up, before I can say anything, "because she doesn't care how long Luna stays up, since Luna is her favourite."
"That is not why, it's because nine times out of ten, when I come over, it's the weekend—when she doesn't care how late you're up. Or it's me staying here for the few days my parents are home, and I almost never sleep more than 4 hours a night."
He nods, and looks at Bella again, "that's actually more accurate."
We all laugh.
"Alright, we'll head downstairs so you don't get in trouble."
"Goodnight, guys," he says while turning off the game system.
"Night."
When we get to the stairs, I whisper to Bella, "I'm definitely her favourite."
We both chuckle heading to the bedroom.
We lay on the bed with me running my hand up and down her back. We fall asleep randomly, and have a calm night.
When we get up, we're both happy to have better clothes, as well as our proper school supplies. The day went by pretty slowly, but it was an okay way to end the week. I call a hair salon before the others get outside at lunch. Ryan works after school, so Bella and I are home alone.
"What do you want to do?"
"Why don't we go for a proper date, where no one's running from anyone?" That's all our "dates" have been.
"That's a good idea."
"We should be able to get tickets to a movie at the theatre on 12th, if you wanna do that?"
"Sure, I don't think I've been there actually."
"It's not overly popular, which is why I like it."
"Then what are we waiting for, let's go!"
"Okay, okay. I'm just gonna leave a note for Ryan and Mrs. Jeffery."
We go and walk over. We made it with the perfect amount of time before the next screening. I'm not too sure of what we're seeing, neither does Bella, but we decided to try something different. We got our snacks and enjoyed watching the movie. It was pretty good.
When we get out, I decide to ask her something random, "is it just me, or does it feel weird to have gone to a movie in the afternoon, rather than in the evening?"
"A little bit, but it means we don't have to walk in the dark."
"That's very true."
It's Friday night, so the Jeffery's are up past 9:30.
Mrs. Jeffery asks us if we're okay watching a movie with her and Ryan, even though we just went to see one, and of course we are.
It's a fun night, once the movie is done, we all head to our rooms. Ryan works most of the day tomorrow, and Mrs. Jeffery works in the morning.
Saturday, we just hang out together.
"I'm going to plug in my phone really quick," she gets up from my arms.
I sit up and move closer to the end of the bed, where she is. When she turns around, I take her hand and pull her onto me. I can feel my heart starting to race, because I'm unsure of how she'll react to what I just did. Her response comes quite quickly when she lays her head on me, and bends her arm onto my chest. We lay there in silence, which is really quite nice.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Hmm?" The question comes out of nowhere.
"You're heartbeat changed, so I took a guess that you were thinking about something?"
She was right, every once in a while, my heart rate would pick up, "just thinking about you, and us."
"Oh?"
"Yeah, I mean, I just love being with you. I've never really felt normal, but the last week has changed that," I barely pay attention to what I'm saying, and just hope it makes sense. "I feel safe with you, like there is someone who really understands me."
"What about Ryan?"
"He gets me, to a degree. But you understand more of my feelings and make me feel like what I've gone through has been worth it, to bring me here."
"You really feel like it was worth it?"
"Yeah, I mean, it sucked to go through, but I wouldn't be where I am now... at least, I think."
"Personally, I think I would've ended up falling for you somehow, at some point. I believe what we've had come around has been destiny. So, no matter how it'd gone, we eventually would have found each other."
"So you believe in soulmates?"
"A little, yeah. Do you?"
"Not really. I just don't understand the belief that there is someone who'll be exactly perfect for you, and give you a perfect relationship," I shift a bit. "I mean, I feel like all relationships are bound to have imperfections, much like people."
"That makes sense. I honestly believe more in the idea of destiny than soulmates, since destiny isn't overly pointed to the same end for everyone."
"That's exactly it, but whatever it is, I'm glad it lead me to you," I move to kiss her head, "I love you."
"I love you too."
We continue to just lay together for what feels like hours.
It ends when there is a knock on the door and Mr. Jeffery pops his head in, "hi girls."
Bella has already shot off of me. I smile and wave.
"Chrissy wanted me to let you know that she's planning for us to go out for supper, and wants to know if you guys want to come."
I look at Bella and she nods, "yup. When are we leaving?"
"About an hour, once Ryan gets home."
"Okay, we'll head up there in a bit."
"Sounds good," he turns around and closes the door.
I turn over towards Bella, "are you okay?"
"What do you mean?"
"You jumped and moved pretty quickly when Mr. Jeffery knocked."
"Oh, yeah. Sorry. I guess I'm still slightly jumpy here."
"It's fine, I just wanted to make sure that there was nothing wrong."
"Of course not."
We lay back down, and go back to how we were before. Just staying here relaxing while we wait for Ry to get home.
