AN - I need y'all to see what I had in here for notes

"Rise n shine girly!" Race burst through Siren's door, reaching to shake her awake. "You's got papes ta sell, lets go!"

Groaning and groggy, Siren turned over and halfheartedly swatted at the arms that woke her. Race chuckled and kept shaking her.

"Alright, alright I'm up, yeesh," she sat up and stretched, "whats a goil gatta do 'round ere ta get some sleep?"

"You's been sleepin ever since ya gat here Si, c'mon we got headlines ta hark and banna's ta carry." Race turned to leave the room but was stopped shortly before he was out the door.

"Y'mean Jack's lettin me off bed rest? Is get ta sell papes with ya guys?"

"Yea, told me dis mornin ta wake ya, you's sellin with 'im by da way, I'm pretty shore he's down in the lobby when ya ready."

Siren couldn't help herself, she pounded her fists in the air and whooped. As much as she enjoyed the rest and hanging out with the boys, she was getting sick of being cooped up and not doing anything. She paused mid celebration when she noticed Race looking at her with an amused smirk. She put her hands down and let out a nervous laugh.

"Guess I'll get ready then."

About 10 minutes later, Siren hopped down the steps wearing one of the outfits the guys lent her during her bed rest, donning a signature newsies cap and a smile on her face. She spotted Jack near the front doors, and he smiled back at her.

"Hey dere girly, you's look excited," Siren nodded quickly, making him laugh, until his smile fell and he pulled his mouth to one side, "you's might wanna tuck ya hair in, I aint too sure how people will take to a girl newsie. Just fer da first day, ok?"

"Oh, yea, about that," Siren trailed off and made an attempt to tuck her long hair into the small cap. The cap sat weird on her head, bulging out and loose pieces hanging no matter how much she tried to push them back in. Defeated, she just let her hands fall to the side and deflated with a sigh.

"Why don't ya put it in braids er somethin?"

Siren blushed and rubbed the back of her neck, "I neva learned how, no one taught me in time and I just neva picked it up y'know?"

Jack furrowed his eyebrows together at the strange wording but decided to ignore it for the time being, instead he softened his expression, "ere, let me."

He took off the hat and sectioned her hair into two, making tight braids out of them, and wound them around her head, keeping them in place by putting the hat back on. He hummed as he did a once over, then nodded.

"Dere, you looks more like a newsie."

Siren couldn't help but grin, but it soon turned to a look of confusion. "Where'd ya learn ta do that?"

Jack looked away, scratching his neck. "Uhh, not important. I'll tell ya some udda time."

It was Siren's turn to take note of the strange response, and just like Jack, she ignored it for now. Even if she wanted to ask, she didn't get the chance as she was soon ushered out the door by Jack to the distribution center, with the rest of the Manhattan newsies trailing close behind.
