After minutes of searching for Edmund and viewing the White Witch's ice castle, their legs were little bit exhausted. They slowly walked behind Mr. Beaver with glum looks in their faces without even saying a word. Just then, they heard howls from the distance and Mr. Beaver and the five children quickly ran towards the dam and burst through the door.

"Hurry, mama!" Mr. Beaver panicked. "They're after us!"

"Oh right then." Mrs. Beaver said and dashed around the cupboards to grab some things.

"What's she doing?" Peter asked.

"Oh, you'll be thanking me later." Mrs. Beaver said. "It's a long journey and Beaver gets pretty cranky when he's hungry."

"I'm cranky now!" Mr. Beaver said impatiently. The six heard the sounds of the wolves. They have arrived at the dam, trying to break through it.

"Do you think we'll need jam?" Susan asked as she helped Mrs. Beaver pack up some things.

"If if the Witch serves toast." Peter answered, looking somewhat confused. Dawn laughed uncomfortably and Lucy sniffled a laugh. Everyone gasped as they heard wolves started to break in the dam. "I know another way out." Mrs. Beaver finally said.

"Where?" Dawn asked in a panicking manner.

"To the tunnel." She answered. "Get in!" Lucy went into the tunnel first followed by everyone else. Peter grabbed a torch so they'll know where they're heading too.

"Badger and me dug this." Mr. Beaver explained as they run through the tunnel. "Comes out right near his place."

"You told me it led to your mum's!" Mrs. Beaver reprimanded her husband. Lucy tripped on one of the roots and howling could be heard in the distance. "Lucy!" Susan gasped as she helped her sister up. Then they heard the barking and growling sounds further away from them. "They're in the tunnel!" Lucy said.

"Quick!" Mr. Beaver panicked. "This way."

"Hurry!" Mrs. Beaver said.

"Run!" Peter told his girlfriend and siblings.

"Quick! Quick! Quick!" Mrs. Beaver said impatiently. They continued running further to the tunnel but there was no way out. "You should've brought a map!" Mrs. Beaver scolded her husband.

"There wasn't room next to the jam!" Mr. Beaver retorted. He found a hole where it turned out to be an exit. As everyone emerged out of the tunnel, Lucy backed away from the site and tripped backwards. Peter and Mr. Beaver rolled a barrel in front of the tunnel hole so none of the wolves could get out.

"Lucy, are you okay?" Dawn said as she run up to Lucy and helped her up. Then they saw little woodland creatures who have turned into stone. "What the..."

"Oh God!" Susan clamped her hand over her mouth. "It was the Witch's doing!" Mr and Mrs. Beaver saw one of the recognizable stone creatures and walked up to the stone badger. "I'm so sorry, dear..." Mrs. Beaver apologized sadly. "He was my best mate." Mr. Beaver said grievously, touching the badger's paw. Dawn felt bad for the now grieving beaver couple as she knew what it was like to lose a relative. "Oh gosh..!" Dawn gasped as she hid her face in her boyfriend's chest. Peter placed his arms around her and caressed her hair.

"I'm so sorry for them..." Dawn muffled in his fur coat. "It's okay." Peter comforted his girlfriend. He then looked around the place. "What happened here?" He asked.

"This is what becomes of those who cross the Witch." A masculine voice said. The children and the beaver turned around to see a fox.

"You take one more step, traitor, and I'll chew you to splinters!" Mr. Beaver threatened him.

"Relax!" The fox said. "I'm one of the good guys!"

"Yeah? Well, you look an awful lot like one of the bad ones." Mr. Beaver retorted.

"An unfortunate family resemblance." The fox said. "But we can argue breeding later. Right now we've got to move."

"What did you have in mind?" Peter asked. Before the fox could answer his question, the wolves burst out of the barreled up hole and circled around the fox. The four children and the beaver couple climbed up to the trees to hide from the wolves. "Greetings, gents." The fox said to the wolves. "Lost something, have we?"

Maugrim scoffed. "Don't patronize me!" He snarled. "I know where your allegiance lies. We're looking for some humans."

"Humans? Here in Narnia?" The fox laughed. "That's a valuable bit of information, don't you think?" The wolves wouldn't buy his question. One of them pounced on the fox and grabbed him harshly in his jaws. Maugrim approached him. "Your reward is your life." He coldly said. "It's not much, but still. Where were the fugitives?"

The Fox hung his head in shame and points with a paw.

"North." He lied. "They ran north." Maugrim nodded. "Smell them out." He ordered the other wolves. The wolf then casted the Fox aside and they all ran off. The fox lied on the ground, looking sad and lifeless. Dawn first jumped off the tree followed by the others. She removed her fur coat and wrapped it around the Fox and caressed it's face. Tears started to form in her eyes. "Are you okay, Mr. Fox?" Dawn's voice cracked.

"I'm fine, thank you for asking." The Fox replied weakly. The children and the beavers then set a campfire beneath the tree. The fox yelled as Mrs. Beaver tried to sort out his injuries.

"They were helping Tumnus." The fox explained. "The Witch got here before I did. Ow! Oh!"

"Are you all right?" Lucy asked him.

"Well, I wish I could say their bark was worse than their bite." The fox said. "Ow!"

"Stop squirming!" Mrs. Beaver said in annoyance. "You're worse than Beaver on bath day."

"Worst day of the year." Mr. Beaver complained. Mr. Fox felt better and finally got up from the snowy ground.

"Thank you for your kindness." The Fox said. "But that's all the cure I have time for."

"You're leaving?" Lucy asked him.

"It has been a pleasure, My Queen, and an honor, but time is short and Aslan himself has asked me to gather more troops." The fox said to her. Lucy looked puzzled, why Queen? She thought.

Mr. Beaver raised an eyebrow. "You've seen Aslan?" He asked.

"What's he like?" Mrs. Beaver wanted to know.

"Like everything we've ever heard." The Fox explained. "You'll be glad to have him by your side in the battle against the Witch."

"But we're not planning fighting any witch." Susan said.

"But surely, King Peter, the prophecy!" The fox said. Peter had no idea why the Fox called him king but he just nodded anyway.

"We can't go to war without you." Mr. Beaver told the five children.

"We just want our brother back." Peter told the beavers.
