Almost a week went by on Friday, the children went to school. And only about a few more weeks left before the summer break begins. The children couldn't wait for the big holidays to come. On their way to school on the subway train, the five friends told each other about the farm that their parents used to live at and there were some confusions because they told them the different story of what happened.
"So...did you talk to your parents about what my mum said to me about that place by any chance?" Dawn asked Peter. Peter sighed. "It was the same thing." Dawn nodded. "Well...I guess maybe my parents went to the wrong place when they were on their way there." She said.
"What did your parents say?" Peter asked. His girlfriend sighed. "I didn't tell my parents I met you last night. Especially to my dad." She said. "But I told my mum I met you and what you told me."
"And did she say anything about it?" Peter asked again. Dawn sighed. "My mum was confused by it." She said. "She thinks maybe she and dad went to the wrong parts of the countryside..." Peter nodded. "Maybe..."
"And they went there before my sister was born." Dawn added.
"So i guess they went to that place by mistake." Her boyfriend said. Just as the subway stopped at their stop and the children got off the train, Susan stopped the conversation. "Alright. We have to get class soon." She announced. "We can worry about them later."
Peter nodded. "Sure." The five friends didn't talk as much as they walked to school. Just as they got into the school building along with the other students, they went to their classes.
"I'll see you guys after class." Lucy announced her siblings and friend. They all gave her a wave and went to their classes.
~At recess time~
Dawn, Susan and Lucy came out of their classrooms and met up in the school hallway.
"Hi, Susan. Hi, Lucy." Dawn smiled. "How was your class?"
"Decent." Susan smiled.
"It was good." Lucy added. Dawn noticed that her boyfriend and Edmund haven't came yet. "Is Peter on his way?" She asked her friends. Susan nodded. "Yeah, I think he's trying to finish some of his schoolwork." She answered.
"And Ed?"
"He's—" before Susan could finish the sentence, the girls heard a little commotion nearby.
"I told you not to come around me!" They heard Edmund's voice.
"It's Edmund!" Lucy gasped. "I wonder what's going on." The girls followed the sound and saw Edmund trying get away from Chloe, the school's queen bee whom they mentioned a week ago. A few girls; Nia, Martha and Carlene, who were friends of Chloe, watched excitedly. And seconds later, that was when Chloe pulled Edmund in her arms and smooched him in his cheek. Lucy's eyes widen. "Uh-Oh."
"EWWW! Gross!" Edmund shrieked as he struggled to let himself free. "Chloe, that's SICK!"
"EDMUND!" The girls gasped in unison. That was when Chloe let Edmund off. She gave Dawn, Susan, and Lucy a snobbish look. "What are you doing here?" She asked in a snotty voice.
"Saving Edmund." Susan said. "He's not really into you now."
Chloe pointed at her. "How would you know?" She asked.
"Lucy and I are his sisters." Susan replied. "He tells us about anything."
"Yeah!" Dawn added. Chloe raised her eyebrow. "Maybe he kept something from you." She said. Dawn stood strong and for herself and to Edmund. "I know him too." She retorted. "I'm one of his close neighbours." Edmund gave her sisters and Dawn a grateful look. Chloe gave her one of her sickening fake smiles. "And I care why?"
"Because he's one of my friends." Dawn replied, tryin to be brave.
"Oooooh...!" Some students said, their eyes went wide open. Chloe snorted. "Okay, annddddd...?" Before Dawn and the Pevensie sisters could answer, that was when Peter intervened.
"Do we have a problem here?" He called out. Chloe turned to Peter. "Well tell your stupid sisters and girlfriend to leave me alone." She told him. Peter glared at Chloe. "First they are not stupid, and second, leave them alone." He commanded, standing up to her for his siblings and his girlfriend.
Chloe burst out laughing. "Wow, Pete. You are sooo brave and heroic! How sweet!" She said sarcastically. Peter just stood his ground. "Chloe you are such a queen bee!" He talked back.
"Why, thank you!" Chloe replied, curtsying to him. Peter rolled his eyes and ignored her gesture. He then turned to his sisters and his girlfriend. "Susan, what really happened?" He asked.
Susan took a little deep breath. "When three of us were waiting for you and Edmund, we heard him trying to get away from Chloe and we followed the commotion, that was when she was kissing Edmund while holding him." She explained.
"LIAR!" Nia shouted.
"We saw her doing it." Dawn corrected. "And besides, Edmund already found someone." Chloe narrowed her eyes. "Who?" She asked.
Lucy then finally spoke up. "Long story! Good-bye!" The five friends then walked away and left the scene. "Thanks, guys." Edmund sighed in relief.
"I can't believe she did that!" Dawn said in disgust. Edmund groaned. "I've gotten use to it." He said. Dawn felt bad for Edmund as she knew what it was like getting bullied. But she hoped that this stuff never happens to her friend again. Edmund was thankful that his siblings and his friend stood up for him, but he was worried what will happen if Aslan and Esther find out about this incident.
"I kind of wish Esther was here so she could teach them a lesson." Edmund said.
Lucy nodded. "Yeah. I couldn't agree more." Dawn had another idea. "Because Esther has special and magic powers, she should turn Chloe and her gang into fluffy pink and purple bunnies." She suggested. The others laughed, except Edmund. Edmund felt sad. Dawn placed her hand on his shoulder. "Hey, hey...I'm sorry." Edmund shook his head. "It's not you."
"Then what is it?" Peter asked. Edmund sighed. "It's just that...I miss Esther." He said. "I think about her a lot." The other four nodded. "And so do we."
Susan sighed. "She may not have liked me, but she was such a good friend."
Dawn slowly nodded. "She is...But I wonder why she doesn't..."
Lucy sighed sadly. "I really hope she likes you too when we go back, Susan." She told her sister. Susan nodded. "Hopefully." She answered.
"I miss Esther." Edmund said. "I hope she's ok over there in Narnia." Peter nodded. "Yeah.." he added. "I hope she is." Then they went outside and ate their recess snacks watching the kids playing in the field. And minutes later, the bell rang and it was time for another class. Edmund was good at maths, but today he was in his world.
"Edmund?" His teacher called out as she turned to face the students. "Are you alright there?" The class snickered. "Huh? Yes, Mrs. Brown." Edmund answered. Mrs. Brown told the snickering class to hush their voices. "Are you sure?" She asked, looking a little bit concerned.
"Yes." Edmund answered.
"Alright. If there's something you need to talk about, just let me know. That's what I'm here for." Mrs. Brown said. Edmund felt a little bit better. "Ok. Thanks." He said. Mrs. Brown smiled lightly and nodded. And the class resumed and Edmund was now out of his world and did his best in math class, trying not to worry too much of Esther and the recess incident.
