i had tons of coffee so double update yayyy!!

"this young boy isn't as innocent as you think. don't worry, we've all been fooled by his facade." yuri began.

"he might be sick but he-"

"listen and don't speak until i'm finished. you obviously don't know him." he glared at hyunjin who was constantly checking on the younger.

"i have a wife. well, i had." he chuckled humorlessly. "she worked at the asylum jeongin was admitted at before when he was still a child, and she was one of the assigned nurses to care for him."

this caught the blonde's attention and he was silently listening.

"i told her she doesn't need to work anymore since what i get from this job is more than enough and ..." he inhaled sharply. "my wife was pregnant with our second child."

hyunjin never knew about his personal life mainly because yuri said it wasn't needed to be discussed for private matters.

hearing that he had a family wasn't usual for him and it made the boy wonder who could his first child may be. in fact, where is his family now?

"but of course she didn't listen. she's stubborn and said that she was doing it to help the sick kids. she loves them, my wife ... she's got a big heart i don't know why a bastard like me ended up with her."

his face somehow looked pained. it wasn't like him to frown like that.

"she almost died when she had our first child... and at the time, we weren't well off so we had no choice but to give our child to the adoption center."

"he was a boy." his eyes suddenly locked with hyunjin, an unreadable expression plastered across his face.

"it was hard for me, harder for her. i told her she couldn't visit our son anymore because when i checked the last time, he was already adopted by a family."

"it took us years to move on and then finally, we were blessed with another child. this time it was a girl."

hyunjin didn't know why he was telling him these details that had no connections to jeongin.

"she was due the next month when she went back for work. who would've thought that would be the last time i would be seeing her." yuri started to pace.

"i was informed that a patient had a fit in the room she was assigned in. my wife handled him alone while she was pregnant." he turn his back to hyunjin, clearing his throat as he could feel a lump.

"that boy you're holding?" he finally faced him. "that's the reason why i lost my family."

"he took his anger, his frustration out on my wife who didn't do anything wrong. and an innocent, unborn child, hyunjin."

he walked closer to the boy.

"we were suppose to name her hye-na just like how we named you hyunjin." his face fell.

the blonde was stunned, he felt as if his heart fell to the bottom of his stomach as it start to pound violently.

his fingers were cold, they were numb and never stopped shaking. he swallowed the bile that rose from his throat and tears were making his eyes glassy that he couldn't see anymore.

"w-what? i...i don't understand." his body suddenly started to shake and his eyes were frantically searching his to see if he was telling the truth. "it cant be." he whispered to himself.

"your mother died in the hands of the bastard you're holding." yuri kneeled in front of him and touched his shoulder.

"why do you think i'm taking care of you all these years? why do you think i make you come here often?"

he was never really a hwang. thats why his parents never loved him, never cared for him. is that why they think its okay to abuse him?

"kang hyunjin." the old man uttered. "they're not your real family. i am."

hyunjin could feel tears streaming down his face as his mouth hung ajar. he wanted to say something but he couldn't.

all these years he'd been in the care of his real father and yet he never thought of getting him out of that hellhole with his adopted parents.

his fingers gripped tightly on jeongin.

"why..." he breathed, staring down at the floor. then he stared at the old man. "why!?" his face contorted as he screamed.

"hyunjin-"

"no! don't you fucking 'hyunjin' me! you knew all along that i was your son! why didn't you take me back!?" he was hiccuping and breathing was already a struggle.

"you don't know the he'll you've put me through, they abused me! they made me sick." his voice then cracked before wavering into nothingness.

"i don't want to lose you again, i was protecting you!"

"by hiring me to murder people that did you wrong? is that your way of protecting your son!?"

"hyunjin i care for you-"

"don't give me that bullshit. if you really cared for me, you would've take me back in. you ruined me more." he sniffled and he hated how vulnerable he seemed.

"and don't you fucking dare blame jeongin for eomma's death. he was struggling with his illness and he was just a child himself!" there was still pulse when he pulled the younger towards him to feel his wrists.

"son please just come home. let's start over again, let me make it up to you." yuri tried touching him on the head but he swat his hand away.

"and now you're taking me back? go fucking rot in hell."

although he was trembling and weak, he tried his best to stand up with jeongin still in his hands. he placed a kiss on his forehead before staggering away from the man.

"stop!" he heard yuri call from behind but he didn't listened.

"i'll bring doctor choi in right now. i'll help jeongin." he whispered. "will that make you stay?"

hyunjin froze in his spot. if he was to drive the younger himself, they may never make it to the hospital in time.

so with a heavy sigh, he turned to face yuri slowly.

"if he doesn't wake up." he cracked his neck. "i'll make sure you don't, as well."
