Btw this chapter features a slight sadistic side of reader since her way of coping things up are not that normal ever since her half brother Eugene died :<<

BUT ofc, more Levixreader scenes in this chap :33

btw, I'll change Hange's pronouns into 'they' instead of 'her' which I used on the previous chaps. I'll be editing the prev chaps regarding this. Happy reading!

"Wow, you look like shit."

"Shut up." You grumbled at Nikolai as he entered the infirmary where you spent the night since the doctor needed to monitor your health while recovering and surprisingly, you had a fever yesterday. You almost fainted at the mess hall while heading towards your table but luckily, Nikolai caught your arm and dragged (yes, dragged) you to the clinic to have you treated.

He was aware of the mission that you had with Levi and showed his concern regarding your condition by visiting you from time to time and bringing you food. Although he was constantly teasing you, his company was somehow welcome and you didn't complain about it since his stories, which involved his relationship with your brother were quite entertaining.

You also informed him regarding your encounter with William Bergmann, the brother of Callista Bergmann who ended Eugene's life. When you met with Commander Erwin just a few days ago, he thanked you for your efforts on obtaining the medical records, as well as the names of the officials who are involved in illegal deeds.

He also notified you regarding your 'personal matter' with William Bergmann as well as his death. You were taken by surprise of what you heard and Erwin explained that William refused to cooperate with the survey corps when he was caught in the underground by the men he sent. William resulted to slashing his own throat knowing that he would be interrogated by the survey corps, and that action of his aroused more suspicion to Erwin and you. It was certain that he was protecting someone, or a secret of some kind that was of more significance than his own life.

You refused to believe that he killed himself since you wanted him alive. You needed him alive to return the torment he caused you tenfold. You wanted to interrogate him about how he received help from the military police, how he escaped,  and if he is still in pursuit of causing your family complications.

You wanted to be the one who would cause his demise yet he took the easier way by ending himself before you could could inflict him more pain. He deserved to go through hell. You were willing to dirty your hands just to get what you want because his family caused you pain. Pain that was almost unbearable if it weren't for Eugene's last words that kept you going.

You were in a foul mood for days and you were unapproachable but Nikolai kept you company since he knew how you felt about William's death and he wanted to prevent you from doing things that are clouded by your emotions.

As you started to help with the chores and participated in minimal training like jogging and such (as instructed by Erwin and Levi) to avoid your wound from reopening, Nikolai kept you company (luckily, you don't get to clean the stables). You were quite glad to have a friend in the survey corps since its been a while you had someone that you could converse with. In fact, the sight of you and Nikolai hanging around together was quite a sight from some of the scouts, especially the women.

It was a known fact that Nikolai Dietrich wasn't cozy and warm when it comes to women. Sure, he received a couple of confessions since his looks were quite ideal and the man was a skilled soldier and was born to be a leader, but he rejected every one of them saying they were not according to his liking. He was stoic and cold when he is approached by women but right now, he had no problem hanging around with you. No doubt that rumors escalated that he was smitten by the new soldier from the Special Operations squad and people were calling you lucky for snatching one of the decent men in the scouts.
