At Liberty and Order (Levi x reader)

Prologue

Third person's POV

Humanity's strongest soldier took a break on surveying the east gates of Wall Rose. He went inside his cozy office where he drank one of his favorite tea, the silver tip Jasmine tea. He read a couple of reports that the soldiers made during the mission that the Survey Corps encountered which involved their trump card, Eren Jaeger. Then he heard a knock on his door.

"Sir, can I come in?" he heard a soft voice that belonged to one of his subordinates.

"You may." He responded.

"Captain, the Commander wanted to tell you that he planned another expedition on wall Maria and he requested for the reports of each team to be given to him this evening." Levi looked at the soldier with a blunt expression.

"Give this to him." Captain Levi handed the report of each team and the documentary of the experimentation of titans that Squad Leader Hanji Zoe constructed.

"Yes Sir." Petra Ral, a member of Levi's elite squad offered the captain a salute. "Captain, I bumped into Hanji a while ago. She told me that she will be paying you a visit later." She added.

"Understood, Petra."

Levi looked away and focused on the upcoming expedition that the Commander planned. The mission would require months for preparation since the scouts' recovery was his top priority. They suffered a great loss despite the reclamation of the Trost district. Eren Jeager was successful in sealing the gates but it took time for him to do so. The victory was obtained because sacrifices were made.

The last time that there was an expedition, a hundred soldiers died in vain and half of the warriors who returned were injured. The families of the deceased perished, the injured soldiers who survived lost the will to fight and gave up on hope, and the number of new recruits for the Survey Corps decreased lately which led to a lot of problems since the Survey Corps are the ones who are needed to protect the walls from the titans.

"Hey shorty!" Hanji Zoe interrupted his thoughts.

"Shitty glasses" the captain muttered.

"Have you heard?" Hanji sat on Levi's desk and took a sip from his tea which annoyed the Captain.

"What?"

"Erwin requested our presence in the inner walls, in Mitras Capital. A special audience, probably a Marquess or a Duke wanted to sign a contract in their manor or something." she said with a bored tone.

"What the heck are you talking about?"

"I said, a rich dude-

"Why would they need us?" The captain scowled as he raised a brow.

"Dunno. Erwin told me to tell you." Hanji shrugged.

"Erwin's not coming with us, huh?"

"Nope."

"Fine, let's go."

Beaumont Manor

After almost 5 hours of travel, Hanji and Levi reached their destination on the Capital City of Eldia. It wasn't their first time setting foot on the most protected and part of Eldia but everything about the capital and its people displeased the Captain. The fact that these people are habituated to wasting their resources and wealth for their selfishness and entertainment without considering the people exposed to poverty, hunger, and various difficulties did not sit well with Levi.
