The first day of college came faster then Lili ever expected. She felt like she had just started high school yesterday but now she was sitting anxiously in a giant half filled auditorium waiting for her first collage class to start.
Lili chewed on the end of her pen, empty notebook in front of her waiting to be filled, her leg bouncing as she waited for the professor to start.
"Hey this seat taken?" a voice said beside her, she looked up.
"No go ahead," she smiled.
"I'm Drew, by the way," the boy smiled as he sat down.
"Lili," she looked over at him with a smile, right as the professor started class.
After class they exchanged numbers, promising to help each other with the homework.
10 months later
"We did it! We survived freshman year," Lili smiled at her friends, Drew, and Olivia.
Olivia had been her roommate all year, they had a rocky start, mainly because both girls were used to having their own room and weren't sure how to live with other people but by month three the two were inseparable.
The two girls had gotten into a weekend routine of going out with Drew and his roommate John, the four always had fun. It helped that John was in a frat so they always had a party they could get into.
"One down, three to go!" Drew shouted over the aggressively loud music standing close to Lili so she could hear him.
"Now is not the time for that kind of talk! Now chug!" she shouted lifting her own drink to her lips, Drew laughing at her but followed her lead.
4 months later
Lili laid on the couch of in her rundown little collage house, laptop in hand working on an essay, well that was before she fell asleep.
"Wake up," Drew said throwing a straw at the brunettes head.
"Ow," Lili rubbed her forehead where the straw had bounced off.
"What was that for?" she sat up a bit looking over at Drew.
"The straw is for the coffee I brought you," he started, setting the cup full of energy on the table in front of her, she said a small thank you as she took the cup from him, "And the hit was to wake you up because you have two hours to finish your essay"
"What?" she squealed reaching for her phone to check the time and sure enough it was ten after ten.
"I'm so fucked," Lili groaned logging into her computer again.
"You'll be fine! What's it on?" he asked coming to sit beside her.
"Uhm that's the thing, it's about this book," she reached over grabbing the said book from her backpack.
"You didn't read it did you?" he sighed.
"Uhm I read a few chapters," she tried defending herself, he glared at her, "It'a confusing! You try reading it!"
"I did, last semester," he chuckled grabbing the book from her, "It's beyond confusing"
"You type I'll read," he said flipping through the book.
"Did you pass?"
"Uhm well I don't have to take the class again," he shrugged.
9 months later
"Don't leave! Please!" Lili begged as she and Drew stood out front of his house, they had just finished packing up his room for the summer.
"I have to," he looked over at her leaning against his car, pouting, as he shut the trunk of his car.
"I'm gonna be stuck here all summer, working, all alone," she stretched her hands out over the top of the car.
"You're not going to be alone!" Olivia protested, exciting the house with her keys in hand.
The two of them did everything together, they were literally attached at the hip. Sometimes it made Olivia wonder if there was more going on, even though the two denied it with every fiber of their being.
"You're barely gonna be here," Lili crossed her arms over her chest, turning to face Olivia.
"I'll still be here!"
Drew laughed at the two girls.
"Hey think of it this way! After this summer only two more years until we all graduate," he smiled.
Lili rolled her eyes.
10 months later
"Miami! Miami! Miami!" Olivia and Lili cheered walking through the airport, a few of Olivia's sorority sisters in front of them, Drew and some of his friends behind them.
The last year had been pretty tough to all of them and all they all wanted was a week of non-stop party and fun to destress.
"You two aren't gonna make it to Wednesday," Drew teased the two overjoyed girls as he stepped in line with them.
"That's why you're here," Lili smiled over at him, "To keep us alive"
"I didn't sign up for that," he laughed, holding his hands up in defense.
graduation day
"Drew!" a very happy Lili shouted across the football field, a bright purple cap pinned to her curled hair and a matching gown over her white dress.
After looking for him for who knows how long, she finally spotted him talking to his family, dressed in the same purple cap and gown.
He said something to his family before jogging off toward Lili.
"Lils!" he cheered wrapping the girl in a hug, her arms wrapping around him as he spun her.
Any on looker would of guessed the two were dating even though they were far from it and would deny it if anyone asked.
"We did it!" she smiled holding his face with her hands, "We fucking graduated!"
"I got the job," he whispered, setting her back on the ground. She looked confused for a second, looking up at him, her hands leaving his face.
"Like the movie? Like that job?" she asked, trying to believe him, sounding excited for him.
He nodded.
"Oh my god! Drew! That's amazing!" she smiled hugging him again.
"When do you leave?" Lili asked taking a step back, a little sad he was gonna be gone but so happy he was living his dream.
"Next week," he sighed.
"Don't forget me when you're a big movie star, Starkey," Lili teased fixing the collar of his button up shirt.
"I could never, Mathews," he smiled.
