Chapter 16: Aloha Florida

It has been 2 years since my first summer vacation with Lee Jiah in Florida. Now it's time I came back to my happiest place in the world and reunited with my best sworn sister I've ever had. On the first day of our summer vacation in Fort Lauderdale, August 21st, 2019, we took our first step to The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, FL. We had our new conversation about how our lives were until noon at the hotel room. And in the late afternoon, we spent our youth swimming in outdoor pools, as well as the beach.

"Aloha Florida!" Lee Jiah said, looking at the bright sun.
"I'm so happy to see you again in Florida." I said as I looked at her with a bright smile.
Jiah took a little glance at my new sunglasses and praised, "Wow, I like your new sunglasses. Where did you get them?"
I took my glasses off and showed them to Jiah, "My mom bought them for me."
Jiah nodded and gently recommended to me, "Remember to keep it and don't lose it, ok?"
I nodded and gave her a fist bump to obey her advice.

    On the second day, we went to Miami for a boat tour. During our boat tour, we saw so many houses of American celebrities. After that, we went to Rosetta Bakery whenever we were tired. This was also where we drank our cups of cappuccinos and ate our Rosetta Tiramisus. Later that night, we went to Dave & Busters and had some fun with lots of arcade games.

    On the third day, after finishing our tour at the Museum of Discovery and Science, we went to the Hardy Park Bistro for a delicious and juicy lunch. Whenever we were full, we grabbed some ice cream to eat and headed back to The Diplomat Hotel after that. That night, we changed into pink and white midi dresses for our dinner at Diplomat Prime. We could imagine that we went on a date night because Diplomat Prime offered a variety of wines and complemented the steakhouse fare. Suddenly, an American guy who worked in this restaurant came to our table and asked, "Excuse me, miss? You must be Hyesun Shin, right?" I turned around and responded in English elegantly, "Yes, it's me, sir."

"I am your biggest fan and always love to watch your Kdramas on TV. Mind if you sign an autograph for me?" Hearing his offer for an autograph, I turned to Jiah who nodded and turned to that guy and said, "Sure, why not?" Then, I took his white paper and wrote my autograph before handing it back. He later thanked me and let me and Jiah continue our dinner until 12am.

    The next morning, while I was still asleep, Lee Jiah hopped onto my bed and said, "My dear sworn sister! Ireona! Wakie, wakie!" However, I was still asleep and didn't even wake up, so she decided to shout louder, "Ireona!!!!" Then, I let out a yelp in sudden shock and woke up, "Jiah! This is not my room! Why--?" Jiah argued gently, "But we're like biological sisters! Did you hear the news? You've been nominated for the Best Actress at the Seoul International Drama Awards this year. Catch it?" I felt calm and a little bit curious, "What? Best Actress? At the Seoul International Drama Awards?" Excitement couldn't fill my mind so I gave Jiah two slaps. I was surprised and asked, "Aigoo, Jiah. Does it hurt so bad?" Jiah groaned, "Those were some hard slaps!"
"Then..it's a dream that finally came true! Yay!! All right!" We celebrated by jumping on the bed until we were a little bit tired.

    Then, we decided to go to the Aventura Mall, where we bought a lot of souvenirs for our siblings, especially a new bag for me. I also bought a new phone case for my iPhone. After that, we went to the CVI.CHE 105 for dinner. It was a Peruvian restaurant that had creative and unique ceviches. While I was in the restroom and washed my hands because of my constipation, I accidentally left my new sunglasses on the toilet paper holder. Oh dear, Jiah is gonna be mad and my umma is gonna kill me. I realized that situation so I took my sunglasses back and left the restroom. Then, I came back to our dinner table and retold Jiah the situation. At that moment, Jiah was worried and stressed about that. Luckily, she comforted me, "Don't worry about the situation you just made it happen. All you have to do is be calm and don't lose your temper." After we finished dinner, we left the restaurant and changed ourselves into swimsuits for swimming, again. While swimming, I came to Jiah to see something special. We saw so many positive comments from our fans, congratulating me for nominating at the Seoul International Drama Awards. We couldn't resist our happiness so we hugged each other.
"I'm so proud of you, Hyesun," Jiah said.
"Thanks, Jiah. I couldn't have done it without you, my darling sworn sister," I said to her with a smile.

    On the fifth and final day of our summer vacation in Fort Lauderdale, we went to the Water Taxi and we saw more celebrities' houses once again. After that, we went to the Cheesecake Factory and ate our juicy glamburgers, especially our most cheesecake flavor, tiramisu. I loved tiramisu, and so did Jiah. After that, we went back to the Diplomat Hotel to pack up our luggages and said our last goodbye to the Diplomat Hotel. Gomawo, Lee Jiah. It's a pleasure to have you in Fort Lauderdale.
