Chapter 17: Jealous of COVID-19

On March 17th, 2020, my American Dream was unfortunately broken because the COVID-19 worldwide outbreak had officially begun. I felt sad and heartbroken at the same time because as of 2020, I no longer wanted to attend Vietnamese concerts in the States, especially in Atlantic City. I was also bored because I always stayed home and didn't even do anything but spending time with my sworn sister, Choi Jiwoo. She was also my only sibling because she always comforted me whenever my life was like Cinderella. We also watched some movies together on TV, such as Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, 13 Going on 30, or maybe A Cinderella Story.

1 week later, I turned on the computer and decided to make an online meeting on ZOOM to make me feel better about a BFF reunion. Luckily, there's the first person who suddenly popped in and she was Seo Yeji. And then, there's Eugene who popped in, too. There was also Kim Soyeon, who was the next person to be in our ZOOM meeting. Oh, and so were Bona, Jin Jihee, Lee Jiah and last but not least, Ryu Sujeong! I should also remember Ryu Sujeong was Khang Việt's biggest fangirl.
"I've never seen you for a long time, now I finally reunited with you in a virtual meeting like this," Sujeong said with a lively tone.
"This is the moment I've been waiting for," Soyeon said with a soft smirk.
I also said to Yeji, "Quick question. Are you still reading Crazy Rich Asians?"
Yeji nodded, "Yep, and I am still obsessed with it, especially the film adaptation."
Jihee pouted, "What about me? I haven't even seen you since the outbreak."
Eugene also said, "Neither have I. I also missed my sweetheart so bad."
Bona responded in admiration, "Oh, boy. This made me emotional and empathized because I can't help missing you, Hyesun."
Lee Jiah impressed me with a bright smile, "It seems like I want to say goodbye to 2019 because things don't always work out the way we want them to."

From that time on, we always had happy meetings on ZOOM about what we did without me before the outbreak. For example, after attending the Labor Day celebration in Atlantic City in 2013, Eugene and Yeji attended a Vietnamese Thanksgiving concert on November 28th, 2013, at Bally's Park Place, and they also attended Tình Khúc Trịnh Công Sơn on June 18th, 2018, at Sugar House Casino in Philadelphia. Kim Soyeon attended a Labor Day weekend concert on September 5th, 2015, at Caesars Atlantic City, and Nguyễn Ngọc Ngạn's 25th Anniversary Celebration on March 25th, 2017, at Harrah's Atlantic City. Bona and Jin Jihee attended an Independence Day concert on July 4th, 2018, also at Caesars Atlantic City, as well as Noo Phước Thịnh's Thanksgiving concert on November 22nd, 2018. Ryu Sujeong attended Nguyễn Hồng Thuận's Live Show in the USA on March 23rd, 2019. And what about Lee Jiah? Well, Lee Jiah attended an Independence Day Concert called Tình Khúc Xưa, held on July 3rd, 2019.

Ryu Sujeong also told us that she recently watched Khang Việt's first music video of 2020, Đừng Gọi Tên Nhau Nữa. It was a sad love story, the same as her feelings for Khang Viet in real life. Poor little girl. Anyways, it was just a music video and I totally agreed about that.

Although it was tough to make a virtual meeting on ZOOM, I was still happy to have my friends and sworn sisters back. We were still together no matter how far we were. We always gave each other high hopes for a new life, and so did Eugene. Eugene also told us that on October 24th, 2020, she attended a new Vietnamese concert called Bayside Viet Live at the Waterfront Conference Center Parking Complex, where she saw Nhật Tinh Anh's live performance. Finally, I wished all my friends and sworn sisters good luck with their new lives and ended my last online meeting before moving to California with Choi Jiwoo in December 2020 for a surprise, and what happened next will shock you.
