"Appa," Taewon started, Taehyung lifts a brow.

"Yeah, buddy?" He inquired, turning the page of his book.

"What's Mama doing outside?" The little boy inquired, Taehyung peered over the pages of his book, seeing his son studying the window. He turns his head to look in the same direction, spotting his wife. She was knelt near their window, tending to her flowers. He saw her stop to swipe at her cheek with her wrist.

Taehyung sighs, his son turning back to him, quite alarmed. "Mama's crying, Appa."

The father nods slowly, his heart sinking into his chest. Taewon looked a bit helpless, watching as his mother continued nurturing the soil that her flowers were sprouting from.

"Come here, son," Taehyung gestures for his son to approach him, the five-year-old doing just that. He grabs his favorite car from his track and pushes himself up to his feet. He pouts, looking back in the window's direction. Taehyung marks his page and sets his book aside next to his tea. He lifts the boy up onto his lap, straining a bit. Taewon looks up at him expectantly, looking rather anxious to hear what his father had to say.

"Mama's coping right now. She... has a lot on her mind." Taehyung started.

The little boy tilts his head, hugging his toy car. "On her mind?" He asked, not seeming to understand.

Taehyung hums, having forgotten for a moment that the five-year-old hadn't quite grasped the concept of idioms and expressions just yet. "She's thinking a lot, right now."

"What's she thinking about, Appa? It's making her sad."

Taehyung purses his lips for a moment, wondering just how he should explain this to their son. Luckily for him Taeyeon was already aware of the situation. She was off to school and wouldn't be back for another two hours. Taehyung would be picking her up today.

"Mommy has her own way with dealing with things that make her really sad... Remember Peanut?" He asked, and the boy bobs his head, his dark wavy hair shaking with him.

"Became an angel."

"That's right, they're a little angel on all of our shoulders. Mommy felt especially sad about it-"

"Why?" The little boy inquired, his head tilting in curiosity. Taehyung blinks as heat starts to summon in his eyes, but he wouldn't allow himself to get emotional in front of his son. It would only make him worry more.

Taehyung puts on a smile, his son mirroring his expression. It came natural to the boy to smile, after all. Especially seeing other people smile. "Because she was the one that had to send them away."

It was the third miscarriage she's had. She decided she couldn't do it anymore. She was nearly through her second trimester, ready to announce it to their families - very few people knew about it. That included the Hazel, Jimin, and their children. It was too difficult to hide it from them, as she was noticeably showing shortly before her miscarriage. Taewon had nicknamed it Peanut, and he was excited for a new sibling. He was disappointed to not have gotten that, and poor Hope felt guilty for it. Of course, this was something out of her control, and Taehyung constantly reminded her, but guilt has it's way of eating at you, especially as you're grieving.

"When we gain our little angels, it makes Mama very sad to send them away, Taewon. She plants a new pretty flower for each one." He explains, his son looking up at him intently, Taehyung strokes his plump cheek fondly.

"How come, Appa?"

"So we can remember them. It reminds us all how precious each and every one of you are to us. Our babies."
