The one where she can't sleep (KNJ)

Alex couldn't stop tossing and turning in bed. She knows she shouldn't be, considering her poor husband was probably suffering and struggling to sleep with her continuous movement of flopping from side to side trying to find a comfortable position. Not to mention that her OBGYN reccomended she only sleep on her left side. Though when she did the babies inside her belly would press up against her ribcage, no matter how hard she tried to awkwardly maneuver them.

At last, Alex read the time and huffed out a tired sigh. She hadn't gotten a lick of sleep at all that night and it was 3 am. Meanwhile her husband was prostrated beside of her, his snores filling up the room. Usually it was a sound she couldn't sleep without, she having grown so accustomed to hearing it - even if she had to prop up Joonie's head with another pillow or two from time to time because it would at times sound unhealthy.

She huffs to herself, mustering up the energy to will herself upright, though it took a lot of upper and lower body strength. Not to mention balance, Alex felt like a walrus that could easily topple over either direction and be stuck like that if she wasn't careful. Though the moment she pressed her back to the headboard she felt an awful twinge in what she thinks is the left side of her lower abdomen. She tries pressing her palm to it to relieve the sudden jolt of pain, having to tuck her hand under her large bump.

It didn't get better, and it stayed in one region of her belly, so she knew it was one of the twins, at least. They've been doing this for a while now, giving her a hard time when she was trying to sleep at night. It seemed to them like bed time was recess. Namjoon literally had to get on his knees and beg her to take a maternity leave prematurely. It was far sooner than what she'd originally planned. Though Alex wasn't getting any sleep at all and was still trying to work. Namjoon caught on before it could go on for more than a day.

She took naps throughout the day, which was really inconvenient and annoying for her, considering she's such a productive person and feels tired and weak all the time; she never felt fully rested. So she still tried to sleep when she could, but the twins had other plans.

Alex inhales sharply at yet another intense jolt in the same sore area, she had bruises all over her belly just from how much the babies would move around in there. Most of the time they were hardly kicking, mostly stretching and squirming, but their limbs would clash and the both of them would struggle until they were both comfortable enough. Unfortunately for Alex, that could take a long while. One day, Namjoon timed how long it would take for her belly to have a mind of its own - literally squirming and shifting when she wasn't externally touched at all - and for 12 hours Alex was incredibly uncomfortable that day.

She tries to keep it down, knowing how tired her husband has been. With Alex unable to do very much, a lot of their responsibilities were left up to him. And he was still working on top of that. Even with his decision to work from home for a while, that still put a lot of pressure on him. So she didn't want him losing anymore sleep than they would be already. One of them had to be fully rested to deal with two babies, after all.

But the sharp twinge was bothering her so badly, all she could do was rest her head back, shut her eyes, and hold her breath. She literally had to bite back any moans of pain from her soreness. She debated whether or not she should rub her stomach because when she did only one of two things would happen: the girls stop moving, ideally. Or, more often than not, they get excited and it just gets worse. Alex didn't want to lose her dinner - again - because one of the girls would press against her stomach. Throwing up this late in her gestation was absolutely insufferable, far worse than how it was in the first trimester. But she wasn't going to dwell on it, knowing full well that she'd just make herself nauseous from stressing about trying not to get nauseous.

All she could do was try to breathe, though it was proving to be quite difficult. She's been losing her breath a lot and it was honestly really scary. At least she didn't panic like she used to at first, but it was still frightening when no matter what you try your breath just won't come to you on its own.

Alex felt a shift beside of her, thinking her husband was just moving in his sleep. But when she looked down to her right, his head was lifted and his eyes were squinted up at her. His brown hair was practically a nest on his head and Alex kind of wanted to stroke it. In any other situation she probably would, but she had to really focus on breathing because if she didn't she would easily find trouble retaining her breath.

"Are they at it again?" He murmured knowingly, his voice quite hoarse from his deep slumber.

Alex could only nod, unable to utter anything more than a frail whimper, speaking would take her breath away, too. And it was quite the struggle to get it back. She looks down at her husband pleadingly, gesturing for him to do something.

He sits upright beside of her, covering his mouth as he yawned and cleared his throat. He looks down at her large bump, watching it move on its own. By now the two of them were used to it, though to most other people they would think they were about to witness that scene from Alien.

He rests his palm on top of her tummy, immune to how abnormal it was for it to form peaks, lumps, and bumps beneath her skin. "Yah, you two, playtime is over." He said, making sure his voice was loud. Like magic, the limbs all stopped squirming and Alex felt like most of the constant pressure on her chest was relieved already.

One of the babies moves one of their limbs towards their father's large palm. They both knew Namjoon very well, he's been talking to them since before they could even perceive an outside world. And they already adore him.

"Yes, I'm talking to you. Appa says it's bed time." He muttered groggily. They both responded to different tones and pitches of his voice in different ways. Even when his music is playing, they still know it's him. As a matter of fact the parents-to-be tested the theory that they would recognize him in his music, or if they would just respond to music in general. Which was true, the twins did seem to react to music, but they showed the same patterns listening to their Daddy's in particular that they would show when he's speaking to them like normal. That was quite the adorable discovery.

"You have to let Mommy get some rest. Some day soon you two will be out of her tummy and you'll have as much freedom to move as you please. But right now you're still just a couple of babies in a belly." He cooed, his voice naturally going to that light tone he only ever uses when he's talking to Alex's bump. He's gotten stares from his friends but he honestly couldn't care less.

Her belly squirmed, as if to reply to his statement, and Namjoon went on like it was a normal conversation, "I know it's pretty cramped in there and you just wanna wiggle around, and you both will, but you have to be ready first. For now Mommy's sleepy," he leaned down closer, nearly kissing her bump. "And Daddy's princesses should be, too."

Namjoon looks up at his wife for a moment, who sighed with relief as the pressure significantly lessened. Namjoon rested both his hands on her belly, kissing her navel, which he, much to Alex's annoyance, cooed at and found quite cute. Alex always had an inward-facing belly button until the latter half of her pregnancy, now it pokes out like a little button and was hard to hide.

"I think they're settled now. Let me know if they're moving around again." He whispered, leaning close and giving his wife a chaste kiss. Alex bobs her head.

"Thank you, Joonie. I don't know what else I would do. You seem to be the only thing that works." Alex sighed, still catching her breath.

Namjoon hums, moving his hands from her bump slowly as not to suddenly alert the babies again. "They're both Daddy's girls."

"I used to want to oppose to that, but honestly, right now I wouldn't have it any other way." Alex admitted, to which he chuckled at her silly notion.
