🌺Jungkook already had Jeonsan before meeting Joy

Jungkook frowned deeply the moment he sat in his car, dragging his hand down his face. It had been an excruciatingly long day at work that day. All he wanted to do was go home and sleep his day off.

But of course he couldn't just execute those plans as he pleased.

He had to go to his son's daycare, which he's sure he's late for again. And he'll probably be told off with another warning, though his boss just loved piling work on top of him like he's a superhuman. Well, he's not. He gets tired, too.

Jeonsan seemed to think otherwise. The two-year-old idolized him and he honestly hadn't a clue as to why. Perhaps it was because Jungkook was his only parent. Jungkook was the only person who could give him all the attention that he craved.

Though today, he wasn't so sure he had the energy. Picking up his son was as he expected, and Jeonsan didn't seem to miss his father's bad mood. He was buckled in without much of a word.

The little boy felt a little bad, because his Appa hadn't noticed what was in his hands. He made it for him.

The car ride home was quiet for the most part. Jeonsan fumbled with his fingers, legs dangling from his car seat. His pull-up crinkles when he shifts.

Jungkook finally pulled up to their house, bringing the boy inside with his things. Jeonsan was on the ground, looking up at him anxiously. The baby had to potty, but his Appa was frowning and he didn't want to make him mad. He couldn't hold still, and through his tiredness, Jungkook failed to notice. He put his son to bed with a kiss goodnight and went to his own room.

He had a long contemplating shower, thinking about how bad of a father he was being. He should've looked at his son's art and ruffled his hair and hung it on the fridge. Made him feel appreciated.

But it was so hard when you're all he has, and when you're running out of gas there's no one else to step in. Jungkook lies in bed, staring at his ceiling blankly. He needed to do more.

Call it blunt or selfish, but it's been so damn long. He didn't see himself resorting to anything else, and wanted to be in a better mindset. He was sick of this sour mood but it doesn't just vanish into thin air.

His mind pictured a face, a sweet and kind one. A face not many other Koreans would think of in a time like this. Her name was Joy. She was an American he met a year and a half ago. They were great friends... well, friends that shared a kiss or two. Maybe even a late night once.

But Joy felt she was stepping on his toes with Jungkook's son and all. Jeonsan didn't have a mother, not one that cared or loved him like he deserves. The boy was very attached to him, he cries whenever the father has to go to work. Joy didn't like the idea of being in the way of that.

But that's the thing: she wasn't. Jungkook liked to think that Jeonsan also enjoyed her company just as much as he did. She thinks of herself as an inconvenience, though she was just the opposite.

Jungkook never missed how she'd play with his son when he's not in the room, or how much Jeonsan seemed to like having her around.

Not to mention how her presence itself was therapeutic to him. She always knew how to calm his nerves and mellow him out. She knew just what to say and when to say it, but she also wasn't afraid to tell him like it is.

That's what he needed more of. Her.

Jungkook found himself with his phone pressed to his ear, and hearing that sweet melodic voice on the other end, he felt his heart racing. She asked how he was and vice versa, and he didn't miss how she wondered aloud, how she questioned his sudden call.
