As we drove down the coast, I couldn't help myself from staring out the window. The beach was never-ending. I became hypnotized by the foamy waves splashing up onto the sandy shore, and then slowly retreating back to the ocean. My revere was broken by Seth. "What are you staring at, beautiful?" He grabbed my hand and I held it tightly in mine. I blushed at his compliment before quickly shrugging my shoulders. "You love the ocean a lot." He replied. He didn't state it as a question, more as a statement, like he already knew the answer. "Well, yeah" I said "I've lived by the ocean my whole life. It's my home." I stared at Seth, eager for my reaction. He's probably thinking you're really weird, I kept thinking to myself. Why had I been so honest? I just couldn't help myself. Whenever I was with Seth, I felt like I could be myself. "That's amazing."
His voice was quiet. "To be able to feel so strongly and passionately about something. It must be nice." I didn't know what to say. Instead, I just squeezed his hand and smiled warmly at him. "Well," I countered, "I can help you feel that way about this place." He smiled happily back at me. "That would be nice," He said simply. I didn't say much else for the rest of the trip; Seth seemed deep in thought.
We finally arrived at Parkville. The cute ocean town stood out quantly, blending in perfectly with the surrondings. We found a small parking lot by the ocean and parked. I grabbed my purse and we started walking up to the downtown area; it was where most of the stores were. Seth held my hand as we walked into town. I hadn't been to Parkville in a while, so I didn't know many of the stores. "Umm, Seth." I said nervously. Seth sensed my uncertainty and looked over concerned at me. "What's wrong, Violet?" He asked. "Okay, I know this is going to sound stupid, " I started. "but I haven't been here in a while so I don't know very many of the stores." I looked up sheepishly at him. Luckily, he just laughed. "I'll be your tour guide then!" I smiled, relieved. "That would be awesome." I laughed.
We walked along and Seth led me to a boutique store. "Why are we going here?" I asked. He looked at me confused. "Well, aren't you looking for something to wear tonight?" "Well, yeah, but will this store have what I'm looking for?" I started looking around at the various items of clothing. "I guess you'll just to look around and see." He smiled at me, urging me to continue looking. I did, and found a couple unique dresses that I decided to try on.
I went back to the small changing room in the back of the store. Seth grabbed my arm before I went to change. "What?" I asked, confused. He paused before starting. "Please promise me you'll show me all of the dresses after you've tried them on." There was a burning in his eyes that he was trying to hide unsuccessfully. "Sure" I said, lightly kissing him on the lips before heading into the changing room. Before I closed the door, I looked back to see that Seth still hadn't moved. He had a faraway look in this eyes. I laughed silently before closing the door.
Okay, which dress was I going to try on first? I had ten dresses. I randomely picked one out of the pile-a pink stapless dress. It went halfway down my thighs and had a sparkly pattern on the chest. I sighed. Dress number one-here goes nothing. One down, ten to go I thought as I slipped the dress over my head.
Seth's POV
Violet found a couple dresses to try on. I couldn't wait to see her in them. She was about to head into the changing room when I stopped her suddenly, grabbing her arm. She turned back towards me, confusion framing her face. "What?" She asked me. I felt embarrased, and paused before saying. "Please promise me you'll show me all of the dresses after you've tried them on." I know there was longing in my eyes. I tried to hide it, but I think Violet saw it. "Sure." she said, before kissing me lightly on the lips.
She headed into the changing room. For a minute, all I could do was stand there. I still couldn't believe that I was going out with a girl as amazing and beautiful as Violet. With her long dark hair, and big eyes, with her long black lashes that framed her face perfectly. And her lips, don't get me started on her lips. If I could, I would be kissing those lips all day. I broke from my fantasy and sat down at the chair outside the changing room.
A couple of minutes later, Violet's head popped out of the door. "I'm ready." she said. I couldn't wait any longer. "Come on out then." I encouraged. She walked out. She was wearing a glittery pink strapless dress. She looked so beautiful I could barely breath. "What do you think?" she asked self-consiously. "It's ugly isn't it? Oh my gosh, why did I try this on?" She rambled. "Violet-" I said calmly. "No, no, no" she interrupted. "I'll go change." she said quickly, closing the door behind her.
I shook my head. I had to make sure I told her how beautiful she looked in the dresses quicker so she wouldn't automatically reject it. I took a deep breath. Even though I knew she would look beautiful in anything she tried on, I would have to convince her of it. I leaned back into the seat, getting comfortable. We were probably going to be here a while.
Violet's POV
After trying on the pink dress, I went back into the changing rooms. The next eight dresses were flops. Seth was no help. Every single one I tried on, I got the same reaction from him. "It looks awesome!" "You should get this one." And even though I didn't think he was being very helpful, I was still grateful that he was here with me. Most guys his age wouldn't wait outside while their girlfriends tried on tons of dresses. He was such a good boyfriend. How did I get so lucky?
I looked at the last dress hanging up. It was light blue. It was strapless and went about three inches above my knees. Silver flowers adorned the skirit. It was beautiful. I found myself wondering why I hadn't tried this one on first. I quickly put it on. It was AMAZING. Seriously, this dress worked magic. It fit me well in all the right places. I smiled, twirling around, trying to see myself from all angles. I couldn't wait to show Seth. This dress was defiently the one.
Seth's POV
Violet came out of the changing room for the tenth time. She looked confident and happy. The dress fit her amazingly. The light blue strapless dress looked like it was made for her. For a second I was speechless. "You look... so good." Wow, I criticized myself, way to sound lame. "I mean, this dress is defiently the one. Please get it." I smiled at her. She gave a happy "yay!" before coming over and kissing me. I kissed her back. Too soon, she pulled back. Before she could head back, I said to her, "After this, can I take you to an awesome restaurant I've been to?" Her eyes lit up. "I would love to!" She said happily. "Cool!" I replied happily. "Well, I'm going to go change." She said as she quickly went back to change.
I decided I would give her my present at the restraurant. It would go perfectly with her dress tonight. I couldn't wait to see what she thought of it.
