Remmy's Point of View
Throughout dinner, I could barely contain my jealousy. How dare that girl take my Mason! True, we had broken up a couple of months ago, but we were going to get back together. I would make sure of that. I had a master plan in the works. It was going very smoothly too; I would've had Mason back if not for her.
And she had Mason around her finger! How was that even possible? It was probably because of her looks. Her long dark brown hair made me envious, and her eyes were striking. But I still didn't see how she was able get him under her spell. Plus, it seemed like she wasn't even trying.
Through the whole six months that we dated, I was never able to pocess that much control. She could probably tell him to go fetch her a lemonade and he would. He was like an obedient little puppy to her. It made me sick.
When she had left to talk to Mason in the corner of the room, I couldn't help but try to eavesdrop. Wouldn't you? And it was just too tempting; I was terribly curious about what they were talking about.
As much as I strained my ears, I couldn't make out what they were saying. The room was too crowded, and people's conversations hung in the air like an unwanted smoke. I turned to Lucy, who everyone calls Lulu, and started to talk to her.
"Lulu!" I whined, putting my head in my hand, and facing her. She looked over at me, concern written on her face. Out of all of my friends, Lulu was defiently the most sympathetic. No matter the person, she would always listen to them and try to help them with their problems. She was the mom, the adult of our group.
"What's wrong, Remmy?" she asked, moving her chair so it was facing me. I tried to be mature about it, since other people were around. After I had finished complaining about the girl and how Mason seemed to like her and how it somewhat complicated my plans of getting him back, Lulu responded by giving me a sympathetic look.
Reaching over, she gave my hand a sympathetic squeeze. Getting all of my internal feelings out made me feel better.
At the same moment, Mason returned to his seat. With some persuasion, I had convinced him to sit by me when we had first arrived here. "Hey, Mason, what did she want?" I put my slender fingers on his arm, rubbing. When we had dated, he had always liked it when I did this. He barely looked over, however. "Nothing. And her name is Violet. She just had a question." Her replied, barely glancing my way. I could tell he was leaving something out, however, from the frequent and longing glances he kept giving Violet.
I turned back to Lulu, conversing and trying to distract my mind. Mason never once looked back at me the rest of the dinner. He talked with his guy friends and stared at Violet the rest of the night. By the time dinner was over, I was mad. Really mad. So mad I knew I had to leave this place before I did something I would regret.
Although most of us had split up for our coast trip, Lulu and I had decided to stay together. It would be a good time, we agreed, for girl bonding. Making our way out to the Mercedes, my mind was processing and planning.
Somehow, I was going to find out a way to get Mason back. That, I was completey sure about. But Violet was going to be a problem. I knew for the last couple days of our trip Mason would be spending them here. I hoped that his pupppy dog love for her would wear off as soon as he went home to California. Hopefully this was all just a little "fling" and everything would go back to the way it was last year. Mason and I would be together. And Violet would just be a thing of the past, something easily forgotten. Oh, how I was wrong.
