Violet's POV
I didn't get back to the Seaside Retreat until late that night. It'd been a long day. When I'd gotten to my room, I had dropped down onto my bed in exhaustion. I stared up at my ceiling, thinking about the day's events.
Today had started out so innocently. Little did I know at the time that it would turn into one of the most exciting days of my life. I sighed happily, and propped myself on my elbows. I kicked my heels off and crossed my legs. Putting my chin into my hands, I thought about what I would do.
Should I take this internship? I really wanted to, but I had to think about my parents. They weren't getting any younger and I couldn't just abandon them when they needed me. But yet, they would want me to follow my dreams and pursue it. They'd always told me that.
I thought back to what my mom always used to tell me. "Violet, you can do anything you put your mind to. Don't let anyone stand in the way of your dreams." I didn't know what to do. Ughhh! Why did life have to be so hard?! I grabbed my pillows and put my face into it. The softeness calmed me down. I fell back on the bad, curled up, and thought until my head hurt. Eventually, my eyes got heavy and I found myself falling into an unrestful sleep. What was I going to do?
Seth's POV
I was in the sitting room of the bed and breakfast, staring up at the moon. It was a full moon tonight. The moon sent beams into the sitting room, giving the room an eerie glow.
I found myself thinking about Violet. I knew from the excitement and joy in her eyes that she wanted to go, but I also saw the reluctance. I didn't know what was holding her back, and she seemed reluctant to tell me about it. Still, the curiosity made me wonder what was making her hesitate.
I wanted her to go. I wanted her to be with me, so I could tell her how much I loved her every day. So I would be able to see her often and kiss her; so I could let her know how much I cared. I don't know what it was about Violet, but she brought out a new side of me; a side of me I didn't know existed. She made me feel happy about life and all the small joys of it.
She taught me that the things that make us happy in life are the things we can't buy with money. She made me realize that no matter what, the ones who you loved and cared for would always be there to pick you up when you fell.
Looking at the moon then, I knew what I had to do. I couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it sooner. I got up from my chair and headed up to Violet's room.
Violet's POV
I had woken up from a light sleep. I was sitting on my bed, looking up at the sky. The moon was so bright, and the stars lit up the sky like a million twinkling lights. I stared up at them in awe.
For a moment , I forgot everything. It was only me, myself and the moon and stars. I smiled, resting my head against the bedpost. Then everything came back with crashing speed. I had to decide if I wanted to take the internship. I didn't know what to do. I sighed and a knock came at the door.
I wondered who it was. Getting off of my bed, I went over to the door. I opened it , and saw Seth in the doorway. I immediatedly felt happy again. A wide smile lit up my face.
"Do you want to come in?" I asked him. He shook his head. He saw my confused expression, and quickly replied, "I was wondering if you wanted to take a walk on the beach with me." His face was warm and inviting, and I found myself eagerly nodding my head up and down.
He smiled, and I quickly went to get a light jacket and flip flops. Once I had gotten them on, we headed out towards the beach. Seth wrapped his arm around my waist. I leaned my head against his chest. His chest was so warm. I sighed in contempt, and he kissed my hair.
When we were about halfway to the beach, Seth picked me up and carried me the rest of the way. He was so strong, and I felt the strong muscles of his biceps under my fingertips. I leaned my hand up to his face, tracing his strong jawline. His arms tightened around me protectively, and held me this way until we reached the beach.
He put me down, and we sat there in the sand together. For a long moment, we sat in silence, the only sound the crashing of the waves on the shore. I leaned my head against his shoulder.
I knew I couldn't avoid the inevitable forever, so I took a deep breath and started. "Seth, there's some things I need to tell you."
