Mason pulled up in a red Ferrari. My mouth was hanging open in shock. That was one sweet ride! Mason rolled down the window, and seeing my expression, grinned and winked at me. "You like my ride, babe?" He asked me, seeming to enjoy the attention. Before I could answer, Seth spoke up. "Mason, stop messing around. We need to go." Mason rolled his eyes, but didn't protest. Seth wound his arm around my waist and steered me toward the parking lot. I was a little confused by his attitude. For being Mason's best friend, Seth sure was acting pretty cold to him.

We got into the car and drove out of the parking lot. Once we saw in the rearview mirrors that Mason was behind us, we started back. I turned on the radio and sang along to katy parry's e.t. "Take me- ta-ta-take me. Infect me with your love and fill me with your poison." My voice cracked at posion and Seth started to laugh uncontrollably. "Hey." I protested. "You're so mean! It was an accident." I play slapped Seth on the arm, but he acted like he didn't feel it. My cheeks blushed with embarassement. "I'm sorry, Violet, but it was so funny." He did an imitation of my voice cracking, and against my will, I started to laugh too. I silently cursed myself for having weak willpower. But, a small voice in my head argued, it was pretty funny. Pretty soon, I was laughing as hard as Seth.

When we got to the Seaside Retreat, our faces were flushed from laughing and grinning so much. Mason parked and met up with us. When we got to the front door, Mason spoke up. "I like it. It's really quaint." Quaint, I thought to myself. I'd never thought of it like that before, but the word seemed to fit the Seaside Retreat pretty well.

Once inside, I led Mason to the front office, where my parents were. When they saw we had another guest, they quickly snapped into business mode. "Hello sir! Would you like to stay with us tonight at the Seaside Retreat?" My mother asked, smiling at Mason. "Yes, mam I would." Mason started to sign papers and pay for his stay and while he did, Seth and I went into the sitting room.

I was about to sit in the spot next to him before Seth patted his lap. I smirked at him, but he just grinned. I rolled my eyes before sitting in the space next to him. As soon as I sat down, he scooted over to me, so our legs were touching. He grabbed my hand and held it in his. It was silent, but a comfortable silence.

After a couple of minutes, Mason  came into the sitting room. When Mason saw us, his smile faltered for a second, but he quickly recovered himself, again plastering a smile onto his face. "What did I miss, you two lovebirds?" He asked lightly. Maybe it was just me, but I thought I sensed a stronger emotion boiling underneath his comment. Jealousy? "Nothing much." Seth replied, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantely. "Is there somewhere I can sit?" Mason asked, looking around the room. "You can sit on the floor." Seth said coldely, while at the same time I replied "You can have my spot. I was going to go help my mom anyways." We both looked at each other. "Are you sure?" Seth asked me, staring at me with his chocolate eyes. They were so hypnotizing, I temporarily lost my train of thought. I shook my head up and down. "Yeah. I really need to help my mom. Plus it'll give you time to catch up with Mason." Seth looked disappointed, but I kissed him and whispered in his ear. "I'll see you at dinner tonight." At this comment, Seth's face lit up into a million dollar smile. I took a mental picture in my mind so I would always remember it. I smiled back at him. "See you at dinner!" He said happily as I got up to leave. "Yeah," I said, waving at him, "I'll see you!"

A couple of minutes after I had left, I poked my head in, eavesdropping. Okay, I admit, I had set up the whole thing. I really didn't need to help my mom. But I was curious why Seth was being so cold to Mason. I mean, they had said they were really good friends, but they sure weren't acting like it. As I absorbed the scene occuring in front of me, I gave out a silent gasp.

The boys were standing a couple of feet from each other, giving each other death glares. Seth's hands were balled into fists, and he was slowly flexing and unflexing his fingers. Seth had a scowl on his face, and his body was tensed up. Even from far away, I could see the hatred in his eyes. Mason, however, looked somewhat more relaxed. His arms were crossed across his chest, and he had a smug smirk on his face. He was standing casually, staring Seth down while Seth was glaring at him with hatred.

They appeared to be having a conversation, but I couldn't hear what they were saying. As I continued to watch the scene unfold in front of me, the moment got more tense by the minute. Then, right as I decided to interfere, Seth punched Mason in the face.
