Ashton: groaning sleepily, you blindly search your bed for your phone. You were just going to ignore it, but this was the third time it had gone off.
"Hello?" You mumble into the microphone, not even bothering to look at who was calling.
"[Y/N]?" Ashton answers, sounding hopeful and sad at the same time.
His voice makes your heart stop. It's been almost two weeks since you've spoken to him, and you're finally starting to feel a little better. The last time you spoke was when he broke up with you, cracking your world into pieces.
"A-Ashton?" You reply quietly, not knowing what else to say. You didn't realise hearing his voice again would open up all of your wounds.
"[Y/N] can I come over? Please?" He begs, sounding on the verge of tears.
Part of you wants to say no, purely because you're scared he'll hurt you again.
But you can't.
Something in his voice is so desperate and unhappy that you can't stop yourself from agreeing.
---
The second Ashton knocks at the door you're on your feet - you practically run to answer it.
He's a mess. His eyes are red and puffy and his hair is sticking up all over the place. You feel bad for him, even though you shouldn't.
"It's late, Ash, what's up?" You mumble. It's difficult to look at him without remembering the hurt you've been feeling for the past two weeks. It's been impossible, and you're still not over him.
"Can I come in?" He croaks, his voice cracking. It breaks your heart.
You take step back, allowing him in.
He moves into the living area and perches on the edge of your sofa, as if he's afraid you'll get mad at him if he gets comfy. You follow him in and sit down next to him, waiting for him to speak before you say anything.
"I miss you, [Y/N]." He blurts. You weren't expecting him to say that, but it makes your heart leap forward. Still, you're not sure if you should confess that you miss him too. That would just give him the power to hurt you again. So, you stay silent and wait for him to continue.
"I made a mistake. I- I don't even know why I did it. B-but I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have broken up with you. I love you, [Y/N]." He stammers.
Unable to hold your silence any longer, you look up at him. "I love you too, Ashton." You tell him, tears welling in your eyes. Letting him back into your life may make you vulnerable, but he is openly making himself vulnerable to you right now, so you know that he isn't planning on hurting you again. Plus, this is Ashton. He's the love of your life, and everything is better with him. You don't want to live without him.

Calum: there are crowds of people along the Thames tonight, but for a change you don't mind too much. Normally when you're here you prefer it to be a little quieter, but the amount of tourists are actually making you feel better for a change. You like the feeling of having people surrounding you. It's much better than the unbearable feeling of loneliness you've been experiencing for the past week.
Luckily, your favourite bench underneath one of the bridges is free, so you sit down with your back against the arm and look out at the river.
It doesn't take long for the tears to come. They've barely stopped since you and Calum broke up a week ago.
That day was awful.
There was so much yelling and crying, and it had the worst possible ending you could've imagined. Well maybe we should just break up! Calum had yelled. Well maybe we should! You had screamed back at him. Calum stormed out, and what was left was deafening silence. You had yearned for this feeling of inner loneliness to leave you ever since. You don't want to be broken up, you had just been angry. But Calum hasn't called or texted, meaning he probably does want to be apart. That makes you feel even worse.
---
You're pulled from your thoughts by a light tap on the shoulder. You leap out of your seat in shock and turn to see whoever is behind you. To your surprise, it's Calum. There's a faint smile on his lips from your reaction, but other than that he looks like a wreck.
"I thought I might find you here." He mumbles, his voice strained and sad.
You nod and mutter, "you found me."
Willing your heart to stop racing, you sit back down, and he joins you, though it breaks your heart when he leaves a gap between you.
"I don't want to be broken up," he admits after a few minutes of silence. His words seem to lift a huge weight of your shoulders and inspire the tiniest bit of hope inside you.
"Really?" You ask, turning to him with hopeful eyes. His eyes meet yours and within an instant you know he's telling the truth.
"I love you, [Y/N]. I shouldn't have said what I did. I love you."
"I love you too, Calum. I'm sorry for what I said too. I don't want to be without you."
Calum slides closer to you and presses his lips to your forehead. "I can't imagine life without you," he mumbles onto your skin, "I love you."

Luke: grumpy doesn't even begin to explain how you're feeling right now. Your friends are trying their hardest to take your mind off of Luke, but everything you do seems to remind you of him. It's almost been a week since you broke up, but you still can't cheer up. The boy is always on your mind, despite your constant efforts to forget about him.
"Come on, [Y/N], we're treating you to dinner!" One of your friends yells to you from the other side of the apartment. You take a deep breath and smile at yourself in the mirror. It doesn't look right, and you know they won't buy it either. You sigh and try again. Better.
"Coming!" You shout in response, and head out of your bedroom.
Your phone starts to buzz in your pocket, and you plan on ignoring it but you check who it is anyway.
Luke.
Ignoring it doesn't feel like an option anymore. You're dying to hear his voice and find out if he's hurting as much as you are.
"Hello?" You answer, attempting to sound normal and not heartbroken.
"I need to see you, [Y/N]," Luke responds, not even bothering to say hello.
"I-I'm kind of busy right now."
"[Y/N] please," he begs, and his voice cracks. The tone in his voice makes something ache inside you, and you're agreeing to meeting him before you can convince yourself that it's a bad idea.
---
You nervously walk into the little coffee shop and scour the tables for Luke. You notice him sitting at the back of the cafe and head sheepishly towards him. Before he sees you, you take a quick mental note of his appearance. He looks miserable, which doesn't give you the satisfaction that it should. Instead it just makes you feel more sad.
Luke's face breaks into a smile when he sees you, and his entire face seems to brighten.
"[Y/N]," he breathes, standing up and pulling you into his arms. You're not really sure what's going on, but you don't question it. For days you've been longing for him to pull you into his arms.
"I'm sorry. I should never have broken up with you. I love you. I'm so sorry."
You've been willing to hear those words since he ended things with you.
You know you should've been more hesitant, or at least pretended to be more hesitant about taking him back, but you don't have it in you.
"I love you too, Luke." You whisper into his neck.
"Please will you take me back. Please."
"Of course I will, you idiot."

Michael: sleep hasn't been coming easily to you for the past few days. You and Michael had a huge fight which resulted in you breaking up, and since then you've barely been able to sleep, eat or even get up in the morning.
It has been torture. You have no idea how people manage to be okay after things like this. You're falling apart, and it hasn't even been a week yet. Michael is everything to you, and you don't know how to be you without him.
The TV had barely been turned off for the past few days. You've needed something to distract your attention, but it hasn't worked very well. Each time you see a couple being happy and in love it makes the tears start again. So, you've ended up watching countless episodes of Impractical Jokers and Live at The Apollo. While you haven't been in the mood for laughing, watching comedians has helped brighten your spirits slightly, even if only minutely.
A knock at the door scares the life out of you. It's past midnight, who the hell is calling at this time?
Taking a deep breath, you take quiet steps to the door. You press your eye to the peep hole in the door and release a breath of relief. It's Michael.
Seeing him makes a knot form in your throat. You take a shaky breath and pull the door open, revealing a very rough looking Michael.
"W-what're you doing here?" You mumble, hoping he can't hear the way your voice breaks.
"I'm sorry, I know it's late," he says shakily, "I haven't really been thinking about the time. I haven't been sleeping much." He admits, running his hand nervously through his hair.
"Me neither." You confess. For a few moments you just stand in the doorway, neither of you knowing what to say.
"Uh, come in," you say to break the silence, and beckon for him to follow you into the apartment.
It's a while before he speaks again, but when he does you can hear the raw vulnerability and agony in his voice. It makes your heart ache and you long to cure his pain.
"I- I miss you. I know it's only been a few days but I hate this." He whispers.
A couple of involuntary tears spill down you cheeks and Michael is quick to wipe them away, as if he wants to chase away all of your problems. His gentle touch only makes you cry more.
"I want to be with you, [Y/N]. Breaking up is the worst mistake we've ever made. We- I-" he cuts himself off to clear his throat.
"I love you," he manages, his voice thick with emotion, "please take me back."
You're nodding immediately, and you can't stop the tears from falling. You don't care how vulnerable it makes you, you love him. He's worth it. Being vulnerable to his love is a good thing.
"I love you," you murmur, allowing him to pull you into him. Being embraced by him immediately makes you feel better.
"Let's not make this mistake again, okay?" You whisper into his chest. You feel him nodding and he gently presses his lips to the top of your head.
"Okay," he promises, "okay."
