Ok so you know that moment that changes the relationship?
When you go from friends to well more than friends?
Usually it's a kiss or something someone says. That defining moment that says, "I like you more than just friends."
It can also make or break the relationship.
What if the other person doesn't like you back? Or what if things aren't what you think they'll be?
Like you think you have a connection but it turns out you don't.
I think that's what stops most people. The fear of being wrong. Building up this image of what you think it will be, what if it doesn't live up to your expectations?
Sometimes you just have to take the leap.
Take that leap to see if it lives up to expectations.
Cole and I get in and the guy closes the door. Slowly the Ferris wheel begins to move and we start going higher and higher.
The wind picks up and my hair blows in my face. Great.
I try to move it out of my face but some gets in my mouth.
Cole starts laughing and I huff, "Let me help shortcake." He moves the hair out of the way of my face with ease.
Loser.
His fingers linger by my ear and jaw before he drops them.
"Thanks." I say smiling and he just nods before looking over the cart to the ground.
The sun is starting to set and the sky is that purply orange color.
I don't realize how close Cole and I are sitting until I feel our thighs touch.
Our thighs are touching I repeat our thighs are touching.
Cole throws his arm around me and I try to keep the heat from reaching my face.
Why does this man smell so good? It's definitely a crime.
We get to the top and the ride stops for a moment.
Cole looks at me the moment I look at him.
Oh gosh his eyes are so pretty. They're brown with specs of green and blue in them.
My lips part on their own accord. His gaze drops down to them and mine drop to his.
I look back up to see he's looking at me, his pupils dilated.
Kiss me. I want to say.
If we kiss it would change our relationship I know that. We would no longer just be friends. Is it worth the risk?
He places his hand on my thigh and I think frick it.
Cole is so worth the risk.
Which is why I lean up closing the distance between us.
His lips are soft and he tastes like the cotton candy I made him try earlier.
This starts slow as my hands drag up his arms until they find their way to his hair.
He deepens the kiss as his tongue enters my mouth. His hands come to rest on my waist trying to pull me closer.
I let out an involuntary moan and he groans pulling away, "Fuck, what are you doing to me Delilah?"
I lick my lips tasting the cotton candy and his eyes follow the movement.
Someone clears their throat and I realize we are back down on the ground.
Before I can blink Cole grabs my hand leading me out of the cart.
He leads me out of the fair and to his car. Backing me up against the side, his hands find my waist again.
I wrap my arms around his neck. He smiles looking down at me.
Oh gosh that smile, those dimples.
It should be illegal to look like him. Especially right now with his pink swollen lips, and the wind blowing his hair. The way he's looking at me with hunger in his eyes.
Needing to feel his lips on mine again I pull his head down. Why does kissing Cole feel so good?
It's like I can feel what he feels through each stroke of his tongue.
"You taste like sugar." He mumbles against my lips, "It's the cotton candy." I say back. I mean obviously but I said it anyway. Like he didnt know it was from the cotton candy.
He laughs, "I had no idea shortcake thanks for telling me." I smack his shoulder, "Shut up." I say trying to hide the smile that wants to break free.
Leaning down he starts kissing my neck. Ok no that feeling is definitely illegal.
I melt into him trying to pull him closer.
He pulls away and I just know he left a hickey.
I go to say something but my phone buzzes.
Pulling it out of my purse I realize it's Caleb.
I show Cole the caller ID, "I need to take this." I say out of breath and he nods.
Answering the phone I look down at the ground.
"Everything ok?" I ask him.
We rarely call each other except for on Sundays, and if we do call each other on another day the other person usually knows why before hand.
I can hear him shuffling on the other end, "Yeah everything is ok."
My shoulders relax, "So what's up?" I ask him curiously.
"Your birthday's this Friday." He says, "Yeah I know."
"Do you want me to send some of those chocolate truffles?" He asks and my face lights up, "Umm yes, would you?"
"Yeah I'll send them out tomorrow." He says and I squeal, "You're the best brother ever." I say.
"Bye Delilah." He says and I say goodbye before he hangs up.
I look back up at Cole to see him looking down at me.
"Want me to take you home?" He asks and I shrug, "If you want."
He takes a step closer to me lifting my chin, "What do you want Delilah?" He asks.
Oh gosh. That was so frickin' hot.
I say what's on my mind, "I want for this night to never end." He smirks, "Then get in the car."
We get into the car and he pulls out of the parking lot. Next thing I know we are at his apartment complex.
