Damian walked up to me and sneered. His eyes were full of arrogance as he looked at me like I was nothing more than a tiny little bug. "You think that you're worth something?" He laughed harshly in my face. "Well guess what? The truth is that in the end everyone leaves you. Either that or you leave them, because you are worthless, and no one wants to hang out with a loser like you!" His eyes flashed red as he grabbed my arm. I tried to yell but my voice didn't work. Tears streamed down my face as I tried to get free.
Suddenly Damian morphed into Tammy, with her stupid sickly sweet smile that she always gave me. "There's actually a lot of reasons why no one likes you, you stupid bitch. Here's one." Tammy changed into Jacob this time. He was still holding onto my arm, and his grip only tightened. I tried screaming again and fighting back, but nothing worked. "Tammy and I are going to live happily ever after," he whispered into my ear, "and you'll spend forever in a deep dark pit you call your soul, begging for answers that you'll never get." Jacob finally let go of my arm and suddenly his hand was brandishing a knife. "Goodbye Rebecca."
I screamed and my eyes opened in a flash. Quickly sitting up, I looked around, trying to figure out if anyone around me would be an immediate threat. When I realized I was alone in my room, I slightly relaxed, grabbing my phone to check the time. I sighed, seeing that it was nearly 4 in the morning. A light knock on the door alerted my senses and suddenly I became frightened again. My blood was pumping and my eyes were wide with fright. The door slowly opened in the darkness and Damian entered the room.
To say I was relieved was a lie, because after that dream I didn't know what to think. I knew that sometimes it was hard to differentiate between what happened in a dream and what happened reality, which made things even scarier. Hopefully I wouldn't somehow remember that Damian said those nasty things to me.
"Hey Beaks. Are you alright? I heard you screaming." His voice sounded tired and his hair was all messed up.
"Yeah," I croaked out. "I'm fine."
Damian nodded and left the room. He came back a minute later with a water bottle in his hand. Taking it from him, I quietly thanked him as I gulp down half the bottle. After I was done, I looked up to see him still standing there, watching me.
"Did you have a nightmare?" He seemed calm and not surprised. I nodded slowly and bit my lip. What was he going to do now that he knew? Damian hesitantly walked up to my bed and asked something I'd never thought would leave his mouth. "Do you want me to stay with you for the rest of the night?"
"Sh-sure." I replied, not knowing whether or not it was the right decision. Damian nodded and grabbed the chair, moving it next to the bed. He reached out and grabbed my hand as I rested my head on the pillow.
"Better?" He asked. I shook my head.
"You're going to be cold out there. Come get warm."
The moonlight from the outside highlighted his shocked face, but he slowly began to stand up and move to the other side of the bed. I watched as he hesitantly got in looked at me. "All better?"
I nodded. "If I have another nightmare I need you to wake me up gently, okay?"
"Yeah, of course. Good night Beaks."
"Good night Bestie."
[3 hours later]
A loud knocking woke me up. I tried to get up to answer it, but my waist was encased by Damian's arm. I turned around quickly, breaking his embrace. "Damian?" I asked, in a shocked voice. What was he doing so close to me? Why was he hugging me? What happened?
His eyes opened slowly and he smiled. "Morning." He then proceeded to get yawn and stretch his arms above his head before getting out of bed. I watched as he walked over to the door and opened it.
