Tuesday morning. My alarm rang and I quickly got out of bed and got ready. I put on a pair of dark jeans with a light blue t-shirt advertising a fandom I didn't really care much for anymore. After that, I pulled my hair into a bun and slipped on my pair of Vans. Grabbing my backpack, I slipped down the stairs quietly, unsure if my mother was home or not. Seeing the coast was clear, I checked the fridge and saw a loaf of bread lying on the shelf. Either she had absentmindedly left it there or she put it there on purpose. No matter, I tore off a good size chunk and stuffed it into my mouth. Then I closed the refrigerator door and ran out the door. I locked it behind me before starting my morning walk. I made sure to text the pops that I didn't need a ride today. Honestly I couldn't stand looking at their faces right now. The reason why no one told me about this dance or even said anything in front of my face was because it was only for people who were invited and their dates. Everyone else was perfectly oblivious to the whole thing, just like I was. They didn't tell me because I wasn't part of the stupid gathering. Ouch.

I sighed in frustration as I pressed the crosswalk button. It was a busy intersection and the cars would not stop going. I glared at the green light, it was taking forever. I impatiently tapped my foot as I leaned against a lamppost.

"Hey Rebecca!" I turned around to see that guy from the diner the other day. What was his name? Tony? Troy?

"Hi." I tried my best to seem enthusiastic to see him but I know I was failing.

"Do you need a ride to school?" He yelled from his car, which was so conveniently waiting for a red light.

"Do you even know where I got to school?" I snapped. This guy that I barely knew was trying to get me into his car. He could me trying to kidnap me for all I know.

"Well, no. But if you told me I would be able to get you there."

I scoffed. "Wouldn't you be late for school?"

"Actually my first period teacher is super chill. He wouldn't mind if I was late a couple minutes."

I glanced back at the crosswalk sign and realized that it was now safe to walk, or whatever the little white person is try to represent.

"Thanks, but no thanks. See you later Troy." I said before crossing the street and continuing my walk to school.

"Actually my name's Trevor." I flinched at the sound and looked up. Trevor was not in his car and instead he was standing right in front of me.

"What the hell." I looked around and couldn't help but be super confused. How did he get out here? And more importantly, why?

As if reading my mind, Trevor said, "In case you're wondering, I parked my car over there." I followed the direction of his head nod.

I blushed slightly in embarrassment. "Right. Okay. Um Trevor, I'm pretty sure that this is not helping you get to school."

He smiled. "But I'm not here for me. I'm here for you. More specifically, to convince you to let me give you a ride to school."

I bit my lip in confusion. "But why? Why go through all this trouble for me?"

"Because you're worth it."

I gagged at the cheesy line. I hardly knew him and here he was spewing out bullshit.

"I'm just kidding. Anyways, a friend of mine told me to hunt you down this morning and give you a ride."

A friend of his? Who would that be?

Trevor began walking back to his car, which was parked in a parking lot of a popular plaza.
