Chapter 36

(To Caroline)

She steps outside of her house and goes to unlock the door, but then turns to see Tyler. "Hey... How's it going?" Caroline asks as she walks over to him.

"We need to talk." Tyler answers.

"Yeah. We do. Listen. I've been thinking about it, and I don't want to overanalyze. It was just one kiss, but Matt is still kind of in the picture. We can't go there, Tyler." Caroline explains.

"Fine." Tyler says.

"Great. That's settled." Caroline smiles as she then walks pass him and hits the unlock button on her keys.

"What happened to my Uncle Mason?" Tyler asks and Caroline stops walking and turns to face him.

"What?" Caroline questions.

"He's dead, and I want you to tell me what happened." Tyler states.

"Tyler, I don't-"

"Then let me tell you. (Y/N), Stefan and his brother Damon killed him because Stefan and Damon are vampires, just like you." Tyler declares.

"Who told you that?" Caroline asks.

"Is it true?" Tyler questions.

"Let me explain." Caroline insists.

"Another thing I don't get is, why was (Y/N) apart of it?" Tyler asks.

"Tyler-

"Answer me... Wait. Did you know he was dead this whole time?" Tyler questions.

"Please-

"Did you know?! Tyler exclaims and Caroline nods. Suddenly Tyler grabs a hold of Caroline by her arms and he slams her into her car.

"I'm sorry, Tyler. I'm sorry." Caroline apologizes.

"I trusted you." Tyler glares at her, but then closes his eyes and then as he opens them he lets her go.

"I-" Breathless Caroline watches as he walks away.

(To me)

The bright sun hit my face causing my eyes to open. I let out a loud yawn as I sat up in my bed only to find Damon was gone. "What was I expecting of course he's not here..." I think as I get out of bed and get dressed.

(Time skip)

I finished dressing and walk down the stairs and over to the kitchen to see John standing there pouring coffee and I then turn as I hear Mrs. Lockwoods voice coming from the Tv. "We are going to be holding a memorial to honor all those we have lost. Join us in hopes that as a community, we begin to heal-" her voice is then cut off by John turning off the Tv.

"What was that about?" I ask turning to him.

"Some people went missing and others are dead, probably thanks to your boyfriend." John insists.

"we aren't together anymore if you must know. Could you get me some coffee?" I ask and with a surprised expression he nods. I grab my phone out of my pocket and begin to check my messages. Suddenly I hear someone strut into the kitchen only to see Elena glaring at John.

"Morning." John and I say in unison.

"What are you doing here?" Elena asks.

"I live here." I answer.

"Not you, him." Elena scoffs. "Well next time specify who your talking about." I think as John hands me the coffee I asked for.

"Coffee?" John asks as I take a sip of my coffee.
