"Hey, hey, Chongyun! What you said worked! He talked to me!" Hu Tao grabbed the spiky blue haired boy's shoulder ecstatically. Chongyun brushed her hand off his shoulder then gave her a slight smile. Hu Tao and Chongyun had lived across from each other since childhood. Since Chongyun's family consisted of exorcists, they'd been at odds with Hu Tao's family who dealt with the funeral business, for years. Chongyun had broken into Hu Tao's house when he was ten, searching for spirits to exorcise, and he'd scared all the spirits away with his positive constitution, his overflowing yang energy that made no sense to Hu Tao.
They had developed a love-hate relationship, and even though they mocked each other a lot, they were still the best of friends. He was the one who'd asked her to talk to his best friend, Xingqiu, after learning that she'd had a crush on him since middle school when she'd read his first novel. Although he'd warned her that it was pretty unlikely he'd like her. After all, Xingqiu had once confessed to having a small crush on Lumine, the sister of his best friend, who he'd befriended. Well, dead best friend. Chongyun hoped Aether's spirit was at peace.
"Thats great." Chongyun was about to speak but was interrupted by an elderly voice. They turned towards their history professor, with beautiful golden eyes and raven black hair that was tied back in a ponytail, and had orange highlights at the tips.
"Zhongli xiansheng!" Hu Tao greeted with respect. They were Chinese, and 'xiansheng' was how they referred to Zhongli, who welcomed being talked to in his own language in a foreign country. Zhongli worked as Hu Tao's assistant at the funeral parlor, so it was really amusing that he was her teacher at school.
"How are you, Miss Hu Tao? Sounds like you're having a wonderful day." Zhongli smiled with his eyes closed. She took his hand in hers and nodded like an ecstatic child.
"You won't believe it, Zhongli xiansheng! I talked to Master Xingqiu today! I've been a fan for so long!" she said with her eyes sparkling. The person behind Zhongli, who they hadn't noticed, chuckled. He had white hair with a red streak, pulled to a short ponytail on the side over his shoulder, and calming red eyes. Student council president, Kaedehara Kazuha.
"Ah, Kazuha. Have you taken care of those files?" Zhongli asked. Hu Tao leaned her head towards them with an excited smile.
"Whats it? Whats it?" she swung Kazuha's hand back and forth and he smiled, sweatdropping a bit.
"Er, Hu Tao-san, I'm afraid I cannot tell you." he responded with a calm smile, to which she pouted. Zhongli chuckled, as Kazuha retained his calm smile. Kazuha was an orphan, and a man who he referred to as his best friend had been taking care of him. However, after that man died while protesting for a just cause on the streets due to riots, Kazuha had been left with a fortune, a scholarship and the property and cat of that man, as well as an old katana that man had possessed, which Kazuha treasured. He was very popular among both guys and girls, to the point that he was basically a sort of god in the school. His calm demeanour and poetic talks made him even more godlike among the students, who respected him and loved and well, absolutely adored him. The girls called him a cinnamon roll who had to be protected at all costs and deserved the world.
"Ah, have you seen Ayaka-san? She has yet to give me some important documents that she said she would submit. I suspect she has gone off somewhere because of Thoma again . . ." Kazuha sighed. Hu Tao shrugged,"Nope!".
"If its Ayaka dàjiê, I saw her with Thoma dàgë(treat as slash not dots) a while ago in the library." Chongyun said, calling Ayaka his elder sister and Thoma his elder brother. It was something cute about his speech. He referred to people he was close to as elder sister/younger sister or elder brother/younger brother, except for Hu Tao. He called her Hu guî, guî meaning ghost. She didn't mind it though. It was pretty cute.
"Why don't you try asking him out during the school trip, Hu guî? Its near." Chongyun suggested once Kazuha and Zhongli had left. A smile spread across young Hu's face.
"Great idea!"
