A/N: Last chapter of mass release day!

I finished up the last piece of meat in my plate, then prepared my camera to take pictures when the fireworks came in. And for that very same event, Yoimiya had shown me a great place. One where I could confess to Childe. Hopefully, he'd say 'yes'.

"Ojou chan, where are we going?" he asked, blue eyes tinted with confusion. I grinned as I dragged him with me. A huge heart shaped stone sat at the edge of the beach, large enough for us to sit on. From this distance, we could see the fireworks well as well as have the place to ourselves. A perfect place to confess, and it was cute, although kinda girly and embarrassing.

The fireworks shot up into the sky, and illuminated it with all its glowing, neon colours. I placed my hand on Childe's, which made him flinch. He looked as if he was internally battling something.

"I want to tell you something." I plucked up all my courage. He looked at me with an expression that charmed me, made me want to fall into his arms, and be with him forever. His eyes locked with mine, and I felt enchanted by the magic of his gaze. Like an insect to flickering light, I leaned closer to him, with a blush on my face.

Maybe even the shadow can grasp the light.

"I-I love you. Will you go out with me?" I asked hopefully, with every bit of courage that I could muster. And instead of happiness, I saw sorrow and despair line his enchanting blue eyes.

"I'm sorry. I can't." were the only things he spoke. I felt tears stab at the back of my eyes, threatening to spill. I ran away from him, not looking at the fireworks blasting in the scenery, ignoring the happy looks and chatter of everyone around. I didn't stop until I felt myself bump into someone. A silver haired boy held my hand and looked worriedly at me.

"Kazuha-" I tried to breathe as I said his name, exhausted from running and crying.

"Are you alright? Lumine-san?" he wrapped his black student council jacket around me, and held my shoulder gently. I apologized as I buried my head in his chest. He touched my hair and stroked it soothingly, running his delicate, bandaged fingers through my golden strands of hair.

"It'll be alright, Lumine-san. It'll be alright."

Childe POV:

The knife I'd planned to stab her with rolled out of my hand as tears streamed down my eyes.
