Fury POV:

My team's been distant, and I don't like it.

Whenever the Avengers go black, stuff happens.

Sokovia and Budapest both immediately come to mind, so excuse me for not calling before I visited.

The first thing I noticed when I stepped out of the elevator was the fact that Odinson was eating poptarts and wandering around the room. What in the name of hell are they doing?

I vocalized my thoughts, and the man-child replied cheerily "We are playing the game of hidden abmushes with the daughter of Steve!"

Ok, WTF. Daughter of Steve? WHY DO I NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON? Wait, calm down, it could be just Thor misreading social dynamics again, like with Stark and that spiderkid.

The god turned around, then said "I see you!", and Nat melted out of the shadows.

"Any luck with finding the kid, Thor?" she asked.

"Nay."

Nat grumbled, then said "Ok, since she's the last one hiding we're going to have to team up."

The last one? The rest of the live-in Avengers walked into the room, looking around carefully for what I could only assume was the 'daughter of Steve'.

"Rodgers, explain. Thor said something about you having a daughter. Did you pick up Stark's habit of adopting weird children with dangerous capabilities?"

The man rubbed the back of his head, then said "Apparently I have a biological daughter, even though she was born decades after I was frozen in that ice.

Since her previous guardians aren't even worthy of that title, she's staying with us. I'm not sure about the dangerous capabilities, but Sophie's the last one hiding and this game has already lasted five hours."

I know my team is the best of the best, so to hear that this 'Sophie' could evade any of them (much less a GOD) was more than a little concerning. Add that to the possibility that she was a Steve clone (how else could this be explained?) and I wanted to meet this kid.

"I'll help you look. Split into teams. Approximately what size is this kid?"

I was hoping that she would have inherited the part of the serum that made Rodgers taller, which would rule out some of the smaller spaces.

"She's on the lower end of five feet, so she could be anywhere." Clint groaned.

Sighing, I turned to look around. If I was a short kid- wait, how old was Rodger's daughter?- where would I hide? Probably the most far-fetched place, because if I could fit there without making noise it would be easy for the team to overlook me.

There was a little niche above the entry foyer, and a set of shelves that could be climbed to get there. Tracing my path back towards the elevator, I turned my gaze upward and nearly had a heart attack. There on the tiny ledge was a petite blonde teen staring down at me with a calculating gaze.

"Rodgers, I found your kid, so come help me retrieve her!"

The team ran in, and I soundlessly pointed up. Their reactions were priceless blackmail, but I would save that for a time when there wasn't a child watching me from above like a vengeful hawk.

Sophie moved, and I couldn't hold back my gasp fully as she fell off the ledge. Nobody was fast enough to catch her since Pietro was on a vacation, but the girl rolled as soon as she hit the ground and popped up right in front of Barnes, who hugged her tightly.

"I'm FINE, Baba. I've both jumped and fallen from higher, and I wouldn't hide anywhere without thinking first."

This kid was amazing at hiding, and I made a mental note to find her file when I got back to my office. She may be an extremely valuable member of either SHIELD or this team, we'll have to see which.

Bonus: Avengers reactions (all mental)

Bucky: Should I be worried?

Steve: Maybe I need to stick a tracker on this kid...

Wanda: Ok but how did she get up there

Thor: This tiny midguardian is cool!

Tony: OMG she got pirate to react!

Nat: Maybe I can train her to be a spy

Clint: VENT BUDDY

Bruce: My doctor senses are going haywire and I dont like it
