Chapter 19

4 June 1971

ADALINE'S POV

We had just released our new album, Ram, a couple weeks ago. Again, we had not received the best of reviews from everyone, but there we're still the positive ones. This still wasn't going to stop Paul from forming Wings. With that we were at our cottage in Edgartown, Massachusetts. There were a few people Paul had in mind for the band, some of them being from the states, so he thought it would be easy for everyone if we were here. We were also going to be celebrating both of our birthdays while we're here. Next weekend Mike, Meredith, Natalie, Alex, Amelia, Jim, and my Mum were flying over to stay with us for a few days. Charlie and Lily were going to be up in Ireland visiting Lily's great aunt for her 90th birthday.

"Love, this place looks wonderful." Paul said as he walked into the living room. "You really made this place feel like home."

"Thank you." I smiled and looked out the back window. "This place is so perfect. We have a nice size yard, a little sandy area for the kids and then a dock for a boat. Oh! And I set up the table in the back so we can all eat out there."

"You always go above and beyond."

"I try. So who's all coming again? I know you've told me before, but my mind's been a million places."

"It's okay, love. You've been extra busy with the kids." He smiled and rocked Michael lightly. "Denny Laine and Denny Seiwell will be here."

"That's it! What about Hugh?"

"I tried, McCracken's out."

"I'm sorry, darling."

"Mummy! Daddy! Someone's here!" Matt yelled as he looked outside.

"Here, let me take the baby while you get the door." I said taking Michael from him.

As Paul went to stand up, Mia grabbed ahold of his leg. "Uppy."

"You wanna come with me to say hi?"

She nodded as he picked her up and they went outside.

"Mummy, is this Papa and Uncle Alex and everyone?" Mady asked.

"No, darling. They'll be here in a few days. This is some of Daddy's friends."

She gave a small nod as Paul came in with them.

"Lads, this is my family. My wife, Adaline, and our children; Madelynn, Matthew, Mia, and Michael."

"It's great to meet you all. Paul, you have such a beautiful family."

"Thank you so much." Paul smiled as Mia looked at them and then hid her face in his shoulder. "Someone's a little shy at first." He rubbed her back. "It's okay, Mimi. I know you're getting tired too."

"It's just about nap time. I can go put them down while you three talk. Please make yourselves at home." I smiled as I took Mia from Paul. "Come on, kiddos. Nap time."

PAUL'S POV

"Sleep well, my little loves."

They all just waved as Addie took them upstairs. I turned back to the lads as I sat down. "Sorry about that."

"No need to apologise. Looks like you two are always busy." Denny Laine said with a smile.

"Oh, they definitely keep us on our toes." I chuckled.

"Daddy!" I heard Mady come running down the stairs. "Have you seen Benny?"

Benny (Benedict) was the newest little stuffed poodle Alex has gotten for the kids.
