Chapter 15

14 April 1971

PAUL'S POV

Today's the big day. Today Addie goes in for her cesarean and we finally get to meet our new little one. I can tell she's a bit nervous to go in for the procedure as always, but she's very ready to have the baby. As much as we love the kids and the pregnancy, I don't think either one of us could take another night of the baby keeping her up most of time!

"The overnight bag is in the car along with the all kids's bags. I think we're all good to go." I smiled at her. "Are you ready?"

"I am." She rubbed her stomach and pushed herself off the couch. "Come on kiddos, it's time to go to Grammy's."

They all grabbed their stuffed animals and came over to us.

"Are you going to have the baby now?" Mady asked Addie.

"I am. Later today Grammy will bring you all to the hospital to meet your new baby brother or sister."

"Baby brother now!" Matt whined.

"In a few hours, buddy, I promise." I picked Mia up.

"Daddy, why isn't Martha and Lucky coming with us? Why they stay with Uncle Alex?"

"Because he and Auntie Amelia said they'd watch them. Now come on, Mummy has to get to the hospital."

The two of us loaded the kids into the car and went to Liz's.

"GRAMMY!"

"There's my beautiful grandbabies!" She smiled and picked up Matt. "Are you excited for a fun few days?"

"Yeah!"

"Can we make a fort again?"

"Of course we can!"

"Thank you so much for watching them, Mum."  Addie said to Liz. "I promise Paul will call and keep you and everyone updated."

"I know he will. And I know these three will be anxious to hear when their new sibling arrives." She smiled and took Mia from Addie. "I can't believe it was only a year ago we went through this when you were born."

Mia just giggled and started babbling away in excitement.

"Don't worry about the kids. We're going to have so much fun together." Liz smiled and bounced Mia on her hip. "Lily's going to bring over the kids later so they can all play together. They'll have a good time."

"Thank you so much, Mum. It means a lot to us."

"You're welcome, sweetheart. I love having them over. Now I can tell you're nervous. You just need to relax, think positive and your new beautiful baby will be here before you know it."

"I know..Thank you, Mum."

"We should get going. We don't want to be late." I looked to her and then the kids. "Come on kiddos." Matt and Mady came over and I picked them up, giving them kisses. "We'll see you after Mummy has the baby. Be good."

"Bye!" They yelled in unison as they leaned over and gave Addie goodbye kisses.

"Goodbye, my babies. I love you so much..."

"Love you too!"

"Mama!"

Addie turned around to Mia and kissed her. "Goodbye, my little peanut! You be good."

"Goodbye, sweetheart." Liz hugged Addie. "Keep me updated."

"We will."

I set the kids down and took Addie's hand. "We'll see you all later!"
