ADALINE'S POV

Today we're having the family over to celebrate Matt's second birthday. My little man is two and I couldn't believe it! Mum was letting us have the party at her house because the backyard was bigger than ours. Paul, the kids and I had arrived early this morning to set everything up before everyone arrives. Matt was beyond excited that it was his birthday. Have I ever said how much I love this little boy?

Also more recent news, Alex proposed to Amelia! A little over a week ago he proposed to her when they went out to dinner. We're all so excited! We haven't seen the two of them yet, but we're all dying to see the ring.

"Addie, love, I think you have everything covered." I heard Paul say as I finished fixing the tables and such outside.

"I just want today to be perfect." I turned to him. "The baby still asleep?"

He nodded. "And the other two are in the other room playing. Come in and relax for a few minutes before everyone gets here." He pulled me towards him, a sly smirk on his face.

"I know what that face means and you're going to have to wait until later." I kissed him lightly. "Only a few more hours."

"But you're such a tease in that new dress...I just want to rip it off of ye." He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my neck softly.

"You naughty boy...We have to wait...I don't want Mum or someone catching us..."

"Fine, fine...I'll wait...Oh, and your mum went with Harvey to get more ice cream."

"Did they? Well, I'm glad they at least did that. I still hope he acts decent today...If he ruins Matt's birthday with his remarks I may actually freak out."

"Adaline...you know you just have to let him go."

"I know...I just can't stand the way he talks to us!" I let out a sigh. "And I want today to be perfect for Matty. It's hard to believe that our little man is two!"

"I remember that long day like it was yesterday..."

"Me too. After hours beyond hours of long, painful labour, my sweet baby boy arrived!" I wiped my eyes. "I wish they'd stop growing up so fast."

"Hey..." He rubbed my back lightly. "I know, darling. I know."

"So I see we're an emotional one." I looked up to see Harvey and my mother standing there.

"Addie always gets emotional around the kids' birthdays."

"Well she's lucky no one's here yet." Harvey rolled his eyes lightly. "We don't need all that crying during the party."

"So is that the rest of the ice cream?" I took the grocery bags from him and quickly went into the kitchen. How dare he. How can my mother like this man? 'We don't need all that crying during the party' Who does he think he is? This is my son's birthday party, I'm allowed to cry.

"Adaline?" I put the ice cream in the freezer as I turned to see Paul standing there. "Darling, just breathe."

"I'm going to get the baby from her crib and the kids from their playroom. Everyone will be here soon. I'm not going to let him ruin my day." I smiled at him before going upstairs to get the kids.

"Where's our birthday boy?" I came into the playroom to find the two of them building a tower with block.

"I birthday boy!" Matt exclaimed as he jumped up. "Party?"
