Maxim was indeed kind.
He dressed up for their date, sort of. His hair looked shiny and combed, and the collar on his shirt was popped open. Y/n could see a silver necklace he was wearing and he pulled it up for her to see when he noticed her looking.
"I've always worn this one." he said, holding a cross penchant he was wearing on a silver chain, before showing her the other penchant. "This one I got recently though, I got it with my friends."
Y/n stepped closer and ran her fingers lightly over the detailed silver wing. "It's pretty" she stated.
She didn't miss how Maxim trailed his eyes over her face, before she let go off the necklace and took a step back.
He took her to the movies. Y/n had told him she was interested in this one movie when he had asked her for date ideas and now they were here, at that one movie.
She didn't need to pretend to smile when she saw that they were actually going to see that movie and it had been a little while since she had genuinely smiled, it was a good sign that maybe she could forget about Lena and that maybe Maxim was good for her.
Y/n often noticed him glacing her way and staring at her with a barely noticable smile, but she didn't stare back even though she maybe should've done that at least once.
When y/n thought that that was the furthest he dared to go, he slipped his hand in hers. It was less enjoyable than Lena's hand because hers was way softer and gave y/n butterflies, but it was still comforting, sort of.
Y/n subtly glanced his way and to her delight, he was staring intently at the huge screen in front of them with a slight amused smile on his lips.
He was cute. A lot of girls liked him and his friends, since they all find them quite attractive, and y/n would be lying if she said there wasn't something charming about him. Maybe it was his confidence or maybe the way he cared about her well-being. Either way he definitely was likeable.
She was about to look away when he glanced over at her as well, his smile growing even more. "I don't know if I told you already, but you look beautiful today." He whispered in her ear and when he pulled back, he stayed a little closer to her than before.
"So do you." She said, feeling a faint colour of pink spread across her cheeks.

They got ice cream after the movie. Maxim's arm was now draped over y/n's shoulder while they walked through the park, both with ice cream cones in their hands, discussing the movie and their favourite ice cream flavours.
It was so casual y/n almost forgot it was a date, but every now and then Max -he told her to call him that when they were waiting for their ice cream- tightened his grip on her shoulder and grinned at her, and every time she felt warm inside. He was obviously showing her off, but it was with such ease and a hint of pride that she had trouble keeping the smile off her face.
It was eveything she was never used to, and everything she ever wanted.
At first y/n had been scared it would be uncomfortable or awkward since she had never really been on a date before, but time proved otherwise. Max tried of course, he had the confidence y/n didn't have, but he didn't try too hard.
He occasionally complimented her, or subtly stepped a little closer to her, but it weren't desperate attempts for her attention, just little touches that reminded y/n she was on an actual date.
