Meghan's POV:
"I'm sure she's just being harsh because she wants us to do better." Bridget suggested as we were gathering our stuff to leave practice. Today Coach Penny had us do sprint drills whenever we messed up, even by the tiniest bit and by the end all the girls were tired and beat red in the face."You're probably right." I replied. I gathered my bags together and we headed downstairs. As we walked down the hall to leave the school, I noticed Connor run out of the weight room with his stuff and over to us.
"Hey guys." He said." How was practice?"
"Pretty good. We did sprint drills today." I answered. I noticed that the more he and I talked, the faster her pace went." I've been recognizing a pattern with you everyday. Every time we get down to that hallway, you always rush out of the weight room and catch up with us."
"Well I enjoy walking with you guys, I guess." Connor replied." Plus it's something different then coming out with a group of guys comparing weights and protein drinks."
"Ah." I nodded." By the way, did Mr. Ikein say anything about the Pre-calc homework?"
"Wait How did you-"
"I say your name on the class list for the period before mine." I explained, cutting him off." Plus Mr. Ikein is the wrestling coach and he is constantly asking kids on the football team in my class to get you to join."
"First of all, no there's no homework and secondly, I will never join the wrestling team. It's just not my thing and besides, I play baseball and conditioning is the same time." Connor explained." Trust me, this isn't the first year he's sent his wrestlers after me."
"How many times have you told him about conditioning?" I asked.
"Every time he's asked and by this point it'd be so many times I can't even keep track."
"Can't blame Mr. Ikein; he needs a new star wrestler so maybe one of our sports teams can have a title besides worst in the state." I chuckled." No offense."
"Non taken, although we've had a pretty good start to a football season especially with this new coach." Connor replied." Anyway, I'll see you Monday right?"
"I don't know, depends on what time you plan on rushing out to the hallway to walk with us." I chuckled. By this point he and I were standing behind my car with Bridget waiting at the passengers side.
"Ha, ha." He replied sarcastically." Are you busy this weekend?" He asked.
"Depends, why?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to go out Sunday afternoon or evening." Connor said, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck with his free hand.
I looked back at Bridget and she was ushering me to say yes." Sure. Let me give you my number." I said, pulling out a pen from my bag. Neither of us had a spare piece of paper lying around so I wrote my number down on his hand.
"I'll call you." Connor said as I started loading up my car.
"Looking forward to it." I replied as I slid into the drivers seat. When Bridget and I were both inside she started squealing.
"Oh my god! You and Connor!" She screamed." I can't believe this! It's all thanks to me because if I haven't dragged you to cheerleading tryouts you never would have met him."
"Easy there girl, don't get too excited. I could always cancel."
"Why would you?! If you do so help me Meghan-" I cut her off before she started cussing me out
"I don't know if i'm ready to date! Luke and I broke up what, a month ago who's to say I'm ready for someone new. There's still a lot of leftover feelings there." I explained." I don't know yet."
"Look Meghan, you deserve someone so much better then Luke and I'm convinced that Connor is up for the challenge. Why else would he practically stalk outside the weight room for us everyday?" Bridget said." I just want you to be happy."
"We'll see, okay?"
