As the war raged on, so did another inside your head. Even though you had witnessed the one you loved being taken away from you again, you didn't let anyone see how broken you'd become. You were glad to get away from that place, separating from Itachi and heading to the battlefield with Killer B and Naruto. The journey was tiring, but you had all the willpower in the world right now. If you didn't put the effort in now, you weren't sure you'd have the time left to ever do it. And right now, all you wanted was to stand by Naruto side and support him with the time you had left.
Now you stood in Kumogakure, the five Kage standing before you. This was your first stop before the battlefield, needing confirmation from the village leaders before you could stand beside them in battle. You let your eyes scan over the five Kage, taking notice of how they watched you. But out of all of them, one stood out and that was the Mizukage. The auburn-haired woman glared at you, looking very annoyed that you were in her presence.
"I put my trust in (Y/n), she will be reliable on the battlefield," Tsunade announced, turning to look at the other Kage. The Mizukage, Mei, clicked her tongue as she folded her arms across her chest.
"I doubt a former member of the Akatsuki is trustworthy, not to mention the fact that she has killed a number of my village's shinobi," she pointed out, not sounding impressed. Tsunade gritted her teeth as she looked at Mei, meeting her gaze with a serious expression.
"She's a student of Jiraiya, I would trust (Y/n) with my life!" she declared, raising her voice to prove her point. Mei was hesitant, now seeing just how set Tsunade was on allowing you to join their force. By the look on the Mizukage's face, you knew this wasn't looking good for you. You needed to be able to show your worth here or you weren't sure what would happen. They could arrest you for all the shinobi you'd killed after your return from Limbo and also for being a part of a criminal organisation. You'd hate to spend the last of your time locked in a cell.
Taking a deep breath, you decided that you would need to plead your own case. There was something you didn't mind revealing, something that might get you out there on the battlefield. Taking a step forward, all attention shifted to you. Grabbing the sleeve of the cloak you wore; you pushed the material upwards and revealed the dark markings that engulfed your arm. This seemed to catch the attention of the Village leaders, intriguing them.
"I don't have much time left, once this mark completely covers my body I'm going to die. And that's why I want to do whatever I can to help fight against Madara," you told them, clenching your fists after mentioning his name. He had manipulated the ones you loved and changed the Akatsuki as well as the people you cared about.
"He manipulated the Akatsuki and made it what it is today. I want to put a stop to him, permanently," you added, lifting your head to look up at the five who stood before you. The Tsuchikage hummed, closing his eyes as he thought.
"I'm not bothered if she fights alongside us or not," he said bluntly.
"Neither, if the girl wishes to fight, I have no objections," the Raikage agreed, meeting your eyes briefly. Shifting your gaze to the Kazekage, you stared into his seafoam eyes with a hopeful look. You already had three of them on your side, having the Kazekage agree as well would solidify it.
"I trust Naruto's judgement about her, let her fight with us," Gaara announced. Hearing that, you couldn't help but smile. Lowering your upper body, you bowed to the five Kage.
"Thank you, I won't let you down," you declared, feeling relieved that they had allowed you to help them in their fight against Madara Uchiha. Mei stared at you for a moment before letting out a quiet sigh.
"We might as well get some use out of her if she's here," she said, walking past you along with the Tsuchikage, Raikage and Kazekage. Tsunade approached you as you straightened up, pushing up your sleeve to look at the shadow-like marks on your skin. Tugging at the neck of your cloak, she pulled the fabric away to reveal more of the dark markings. They had climbed all the way up your arm, nearly swallowing your shoulder completely.
"How long have you had this for?" she asked, trying to hide her immense concern. You pulled away from her grasp, moving your cloak back in place to cover the markings.
"I got it as soon as I left the hole," you told her, rubbing your hand over your now clothed shoulder. Tsunade continued to walk, stopping when she was behind you. She faced away from you, something obviously on her mind.
"Does Naruto know?" she asked, remaining serious as she asked her question. You bit your lip in annoyance, not wanting to be reminded that you were keeping something so important from the blonde. You felt it was for his own good, if he found out that you were dying he would try to do something to help you. You didn't want help, helping him win the war was all you wanted to do along with wiping out those that had manipulated the Akatsuki.
"No, he doesn't know. So please don't tell him" you pleaded, hoping Tsunade would keep her lips sealed about this. Hearing a quiet sigh from her, the Hokage continued walking after the after Kage.
"Fine, I won't tell him about it. But he'll have to find out about it eventually," she reminded before walking away. Turning around, you watched as she disappeared around a corner, leaving your line of sight. Heaving a sigh of your own, you were thankful that the Kage had allowed you to fight alongside them. Not only that, but the revenge would be great. The one you once knew as Tobi was nothing more than a Façade, an innocent mask used to hide true evil intentions.
Now he went by Madara Uchiha and he was going to pay for messing with the Akatsuki.
With each chapter we get closer and closer to the end, I'm really satisfied with the idea I have for the ending. Shouldn't be too long now. Hope you enjoyed the chapter :)
