Fear

Kaito and Shinichi were cuddling. Shinichi's head was under Kaito's chin while Kaito's was on Shinichi's hair.

"Hey, I keep wondering. Do you have any problem when someone fall?"

Kaito tilted his head and put back on his lover's hair.

"Why?"

He asked again because Shinichi didn't need to know the answer of the previous question.

He remembered the time both of them on the hill. Both of them were hiking and somehow wearing thick clothes since it was winter.

As bad luck always happened to Shinichi, he slipped and fall to the cliff. Luckily, Kaito was fast, catching his hand before Shinichi could really fall and died.

Shinichi opened his eyes that he was unintentionally closed and saw Kaito's face. It showed shock and scared. Kaito then pulled him up and he saw Kaito's bare hand.

Kaito just shook his head and smiled. He said that he was glad that he caught Shinichi on time. Shinichi felt worry remembering the face that shown when Kaito caught him.

Yes, it showed shock. Yes, it showed scared. Both were normal when your loves one almost died. The problem was that his expression was too shocked and too scared. The gloves too. Why he put it off?

That's the reason he asked the said question and Kaito just sighed. Knowing that his detective won't sleep as long as he didn't answer the question.

"Back then, when I was Kid, there was one person. He fell and I caught him. I caught his hand, Shinichi."

Shinichi felt the hand that wrapped around him became tighter and Shinichi did the same to comfort Kaito.

"But my glove slipped off and he fell. His screaming was loud and it was scary."

Shinichi let out a hummed.

"That's why you pull out your gloves that time."

"Yeah."

Shinichi cupped Kaito's face to look down at him. His eyes was shining and Kaito felt a little better and relaxed.

"Do you still having nightmare about that?"

Kaito shook his head.

"I did before but Mom, Aoko, Hakuba and Jii helped me. Akako a little bit too using her magic. So, I just had them for two to three weeks?"

Shinichi frowned.

"Do you still feeling guilty? "

"A little bit. I couldn't remember his voice but I do remember his face when something triggered me. Fortunately, the face wasn't as vivid as 2 years back."

It had been 2 years and he thought he had become immune to the incident but oh, how wrong was he when Shinichi fell that day? How pathetic was he?

Kaito snapped his thought when Shinichi pinched his cheek. Both his cheeks and he whined.

"It's not your fault."

"I know."

He answered with a soft voice. It wasn't sad but relieved. It wasn't a lie but the truth and Shinichi finally made a smile on his face.

"I'm glad."

Putting back his head on Kaito's chest.

"I'm glad you didn't blame yourself, Kaito."

Shinichi murmured and went to the dream land not long after that. Kaito who heard the low sentence, chuckled.

As he said earlier, he did feel guilty a little bit but he knew the guilt would dissapear completely anytime soon. He knew that since he had Shinichi's face that could covered the guy's face that he failed to save. How warm. His chest always feel warm, remembering Shinichi's many expression.

Besides, his detective didn't like people blaming therselves except for crimes.

Kaito then kissed Shinichi's head and he could see how the other's lips turned to a soft smile. Kaito then hugged Shinichi tighter again.

"You also shouldn't blame yourself, you know."

Because Kaito knew he did but never talked about it as Shinichi was so stubborn. He sighed and closed his eyes to sleep too.
