Expectations Meets Reality

Hi, how are you? OwO/ Here a short fic, which has been ages since I last wrote less than 500 words, for all of you since the idea stucked in my head. It's not like my usual style though. So... I hope you enjoy it :>

They were talking together at the park. They had been hanging out together from morning until now, which was evening currently. 

Shinichi glanced at Kaito who was talking about his excitement going to his first international show.

Well, tomorrow was the day Kaito would leave Japan for two weeks. He was going to have his first international show at that time and Shinichi bet he was going to miss him a lot. Not like he would say that to the magician though.

“Hey, Kaito,” he started after a long comfortable silence between them and Kaito hummed as a reply. 

Last week, Ran had suggested that Shinichi should have confessed to the man in front of him as soon as possible. The reason was to secure his place inside Kaito’s heart before he went overseas or else, others would take him away from Shinichi during the two weeks.

And, Shinichi couldn’t help but agree with her.

Thus, Shinichi turned to look at the pair of indigo eyes that he loved so much and said, “I love you, Kaito,” with a grin. 

He was nervous but he had seen it. He had seen how different Kaito flirted with him. He had seen Kaito's eyes’ sparkle when seeing him. He had seen how gentle Kaito was towards him when he was down. Everyone had seen it and everyone knew how Kaito felt towards Shinichi. 

The problem was the magician had never once given him concrete proof saying he was indeed in love with Shinichi. Thus, Shinichi could only expect. 

But, when Shinichi saw Kaito blushed and caught his wrist when he wanted to walk away, Shinichi couldn't help but hope. 

“I love you too, Shinichi.”

Those words, which were said with seriousness unlike Kaito's usual attics, somehow made Shinichi tremble slightly. He could feel his eyes widened and his lips wobbled.  He knew his face was blushing badly right now. Shinichi after that bit his lips and closed his eyes for a second.

The fact he had already expected Kaito to feel the same as him but to hear that from Kaito himself was still a surprise for Shinichi.

Later, he opened his eyes and smiled softly at Kaito, who was staring at him with so much love and determination. Shinichi turned and grabbed Kaito’s wrist which was holding his other hand before leaning to kiss the magician’s lips.

Kaito just held him close.

It was short, so short. When they finally pulled out, they smiled at each other. Shinichi could feel butterflies in his stomach and his cheek hurt from smiling too wide.

“Then, I’ll wait for you to take me out on a date once you come back.”
