Aoko and Shinichi are closed, misunderstanding, happy ending.

Shinichi was wearing his jeans when someone rang the bell. He groaned because he was in a hurry right now but the sound didn't stop. So, he make sure his looks was okay and went downstairs to open the door.

"You're ready to go, Shinichi?"

The sight in front of him made him frown.

"Kaito, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to pick up Aoko-san?"

Kuroba Kaito, in his leather jacket and trousers, just grinned at Shinichi. He answered, "It's fine. Aoko is already on her way to the restaurant by herself. By the way, you look good today."

Shinichi blushed at the comment and said nothing to it. He just asked the magician to wait for him on his motorbike while Shinichi picked up his things. Once he locked up everything, he went towards Kaito.

"Here," Kaito handed out a helmet and Shinichi took it. He wore the helmet and sat behind the magician.

"Hang on tight, okay?" Shinichi heard. He just nodded and ignored the warm he was feeling while wrapping his arms around the other's waist.

"Today is a big day! So, just eat whatever you want, you two," Kaito told Aoko and Shinichi once they were sitting at the table that Kaito had reserved. Aoko just squealed in delight while Shinichi wanted to scoff.

Big day, wasn't it? Shinichi couldn't help but wonder if Kaito was finally going to ask his childhood friend out. After all these years. And Shinichi was just here as the third-wheeler and maybe as Kaito's support.

Not like he didn't like it. He just hoped he was more than that to Kaito. Just like how Kaito was more than.. a friend for him.

Shinichi stared at how both Kaito and Aoko looked good together. They looked so perfect for each other.

"Shinichi-kun? You're okay?" Aoko's sound snapped Shinichi from his thoughts. He quickly placed a smile and nodded. The detective also ignored the worried look on Kaito's face.

"Hey, Shin– " a call interrupted Kaito from calling his name. Shinichi watched the magician's frustrated face for a second before Kaito quickly went to the bathroom, leaving him and Aoko alone.

Shinichi and Aoko just looked at each other and rolled their eyes at the same time as both of them already knew the magician's antics. They proceeded to talk about their day while enjoying their food.

He wondered what that maniac had been thinking.

Not long after Kaito had left, he had received a text from Kaito. The text had been saying that Shinichi and Aoko had to go to Ekoda Clock Tower and the magician was waiting for them there. Kaito also had settled the bills and the other two just left confused.

Well, maybe Shinichi only because he could see the amusement in Aoko's eyes.

Anyways, here they were at Ekoda Clock Tower without any sight of Kaito. It had been minutes but there was no shape of the magician. And there was no bench here so Shinichi and Aoko had to stand up the whole time.

"I never told this to you but I met that idiot here a long time ago," Shinichi turned to Aoko when she started talking suddenly, "I was crying that time and he was there, giving rose to me and comforting me."

Aoko looked up and continued, "This place is one of my favorites."

She then turned to Shinichi, "What about you?"

"Huh?"

"Your favorite place. What is yours?"

Shinichi thought for a moment for the answer. There were so many places he loved. But here, at Ekoda Clock Tower, was where he met the real man behind a certain phantom thief as his real self. Shinichi smiled at the memories and wondered how many months had passed since their proper first meeting.

That was also the day he realized his true feelings towards his rival.

"Well, I guess mine is here too," the detective hoped he didn't sound so fond while he said that.

Shinichi watched how the smile on Aoko's lips became softer and suddenly, there were footsteps. Aoko gave a thumbs up at him and said, "Then, I trust you to take care of Kaito, Shinichi-kun."

"Wait, Aoko-san! What do you mean by that?" He wanted to reach for her but couldn't as Aoko ran away from him. His body froze instantly when he felt someone behind him. Shinichi turned and Kaito was standing in front of him with a bouquet of red roses in his hands.

"Happy anniversary to our first meeting as ourselves. Will you go out with me, Shinichi?"

His eyes widened and he stuttered, "B-but Kaito.. y-you said you love Aoko-san before?"

Kaito just gave Shinichi a warm smile and the detective could feel his body getting so hot. He turned to stare at his shoes while his hands in fists.

"Are you sure I said that?"

Shinichi just nodded and tried to remember the day Kaito told him about the person who was having the magician's heart.

Kaito had said something like they had blue eyes. They were someone who was known in the police force and had a gray vision. They were cheerful and strong. They used unusual objects to defeat criminals. Most importantly, they were someone Shinichi was close to and someone who always went out with Kaito on weekends.

But then, Shinichi realized that Kaito had never said it was Aoko. Shinichi, from the hints, had presumed that the person who Kaito was in love with was Aoko.

"Look at me, Shinichi," and Shinichi just did that while the magician continued.

"You're really popular in the police force. You helped me when I was KID. You look like a kid sometimes, probably your habits during Conan. You are so strong and all your soccer balls hurt so bad. And don't you realize how much we go out every single Saturday? Not to mention your beautiful eyes. What I said that day, the person who has caught my heart is you, Shinichi. It has been you all along."

Shinichi couldn't keep his emotions right after hearing all that. So, he just went to kiss the man in front of him. A quick kiss by the way.

Kaito smiled after the kiss when he saw the detective was looking away from him with a blushing face. He also knew that he was in a mess like the detective though.

Correcting his posture, Kaito called out Shinichi's full name and handed the bouquet in his hands.

"I think I got the answer but to confirm, will you go out with me, Kudo Shinichi?"

And Shinichi did nothing more than take the flowers and replied, "Yes," with the brightest smile Kaito had seen in his life.
