Apologies for the very long chapter but welcome to Xodiva's story finale.
Enjoy!**Don't skip ahead to read translations or risk spoilers**
I open my eyes as they water with the pressure. But I am no longer standing before the massive ship. No longer standing before Thanos or his army. No, all I see is the beautiful cityscape of Coruscant speeding past me in a blur of purple and yellows. As the sky slowly grows more black with the ashes of the fallen Jedi, the smell of fire and smoke fill my nose. I know that smell all to well. Below my feet is a train. The train. My heart stops as I realise where I am. I realized what is to come.
"Commander Xodiva Lythl. Stop where you are."
A voice calls from behind me, making me wince at its harsh tone against my name. A tone that does not suit the owner at all. The voice that I can always recognise, no matter.
The clones hold identical voices, only distinguishable by what they make to set themselves apart. But not this one. I knew then who called me just as I know now. A voice deep within pulls away at the cavern of my mind, bringing his face clear into my mind.
The clone I fell for. Anakin's captain. My captain. Rex.
"Commander Lythl, you have been charged and found guilty of treason against the Supreme Chancellor," His voice rings out over the thunder of the train's speed, pounding in my ears. Or perhaps that is my heart. I turn to face the man my heart hates me for, who, in return, holds two blasters pointed at my chest. The wind whips my hair behind my head, loose and wild, as the train speeds on. It is long. Long as it had been when I ran. "You will be executed for such crimes against the Republic."
My heart beat fills my throat as I stand facing Rex with his blasters brandished and my sabre ignited. The train roars through the planet, past the temple. I cannot help but feel the irony of how this immaculate Jedi Order had been so dedicated to ending violence that we had been ended by the ones we trusted most to do just that. The ones many of us grew to trust and hold close, considering them family. The Emperor should be so pleased with his deception. His lies. Leading us to our own destruction.
But here it is, my final night alive. The final night the Jedi Padawan soon to be Knight, yet never will be, Xodiva Lythl will ever be alive.
I stand before the one my heart longs for most, as the temple burns beside us, illuminating the right side of his helmet in a haunting golden glow. It is terrifying to see the fire devour his mind.
Oh... why does it have to be you I face?
As Order 66 ends the era of the Jedi. Of the millions of clones created for this war, I stand before you.
As the world caves in.
Why didn't you go to Mandalore? Why did you stay? Why did you stay here with me? I gasp for breath as my escape meets its match, and with it, the Jedi. It is you I must face my final moments with. Die by your hand. It is the way that was meant to be, as it had been for years.
My freshly cut shoulder throbs as I stand in a staggered stance before the lost soldier. Anakin's betrayal was fresh in my mind then, but this...
"Rex, please. This is not your fault. I can help you, gedet'ye*..." I call, then I called that too, voice breaking as well. I speak in the tongue of the home that should have been ours. I knew he spoke Mando'a. I remember that he does. How can I forget? I knew then that it was pointless, the chip had completely taken his mind. I cannot do anything, and yet, he has not killed me, fired on me. Perhaps thats I why I continue to speak, trying to reach him.
