Part 86: Tower of Terror

Shoto ran blindly and didn't even know where he was going till he ran into Shine and Eri.

Shine had portaled to the outside in the hopes she could give Eri to Hawks and tell hi to fly her to the police station, but couldn't go directly to Hawks in case he was in the air.

Finding he was no longer where she'd left him, she almost wanted to scream.

Then Shoto almost crashed into her.

"Shoto? What are you doing out here by yourself?" Shine asked.

"He killed him," Shoto spoke without knowing what he was saying. "He killed him."

Shine's eyes winded "One of the villains killed someone else?"

But she thought, Shoto didn't react like that to Shigaraki dusting the other guy.

Suddenly, she grabbed Shoto's arm and pulled him behind the other building and shushed him.

"It's okay," she put a hand on his shoulder. "Calm down."

Eri was still unconscious, so she put her down but kept her between her feet in case-- something happened.

Shoto was past caring about Shine keeping secrets and just grabbed her back like he was as young as Eri was.

Shine hugged him. "Was it Hawks?"

"How...did you...?" Shoto gasped.

"I heard him say something earlier, I was going to tell you but the Dabi thing distracted me and then it was too late." Shine patted his shoulder. "Who did he ...?"

"N-Nemoto...He's was one of the--"

"I know who he is, I just saw him." Shine shuddered. "He's dead? Why him? He wasn't even that strong--"

Then she thought that Nemoto's quirk might easily have been a huge problem for Hawks. The truth coming out about him...

She suddenly grabbed Shoto's face. "Did he see you? Hawks?"

"I don't know," Shoto said. "He flew away and I ran up to Nemoto."

"You did?" Shine was angry but then she stopped herself. She bit her lip. "But he didn't come back?"

"No." Shoto said.

Shine looked him in the eye. "If he asks, you saw nothing, Got it? You only found Nemoto dying and you thought it was Overhauls or one of his others because Nemoto failed to stop me, which he did."

"I can't just pretend I didn't see that."

"Yes, you can, now is not the time to show him our hand," Shine insisted. "I don't know who he's working for."

"The LOV..." Shoto got a grip now that he had something to focus on. "He said it would make the LOV happy."

"The LOV didn't order Nemoto's specific death from Hawks," Shine frowned.

"They must have when you weren't there," Shoto said. "Shine, they killed the other guy, why not Nemoto?"

"They would kill him, but they wouldn't order Hawks to do it, he's too high profile for them to risk that," Shine remembered how Endeavor's attack had been framed as Hawks helping him, not the LOV.

Even if there was not a lot of people here, Mirko and the other two top Pros made it a bad time expose themselves, Shigaraki would never be so stupid even if maybe Dabi would have been. He'd learned too much lately.

"Shoto, trust me, they wouldn't out themselves like that around the other three Pros," she insisted. "Or even me. They knew the rules. it would make noe sense when they could get away with doing it openly themselves right now."
