Bailee slowly opened her eyes. She could hear the distant sound of birds tweeting. She was lying somewhere comfortable. She still couldn't see very clearly. There was light coming from somewhere. Bailee lay still closing her eyes again. Her eyes felt dry and then she remembered with a queasy feeling, what had happened last night. But how did she get here? She decided to open her eyes so she could look around. She gazed across the room and on the opposite side of her bed, Ron, Hermionie and Draco Malfoy were there, deep in conversation. She tried not to make a sound so she could listen to what they were saying.
"So then I brought her up here because I thought it would be best." said Draco "I saw her leaving the great hall so I decided to follow her but I had no idea where she had gone. It took me a while but then I met Moaning Myrtle and she said Bailee was inside the girls bathroom on the first floor."
" Yeah, Bailee said she was going up to the common room so when the feast was over we went up there, but she wasn't there so we panicked. Thankfully you brought her up a little later." said Ron.
Bailee shifted a little and all three heads turned towards her. Draco ran to her side and placed his hand on her arm. She slowly sat up. "How are you feeling?" said Hermione. " Fine," said Bailee.
"No you're not." Said Ron. Bailee started to climb out of her bed. She felt uneasy with them all here. She would rather be alone at the moment. She stood and felt slightly dizzy. Draco was still holding on to her arm.
"Rough night." she said. "That's all." She was eyeing the exit of the dormitories. She started to walk away.
"Bailee," said Draco, looking confused.
"I'm alright, really" Draco let go of her arm. She walked briskly towards the exit of the dormitories. She turned the corner. Why did she feel so angry! She kept walking, hardly caring, hardly noticing all the glares and glances she received from other students. She turned another corner. She walked briskly but stopped because she almost ran into Professor Snape. He turned around slowly and looked her in the eyes.
"Watch where you're going Mrs. Potter" said Snape coldly.
"Sorry" said Bailee through gritted teeth. The anger was rising in her now. Why did Snape have to stop her? She had to get outside. He was so annoying, always picking on her for no reason. She felt something swell inside her. Snape was still looking into her eyes. All of a sudden a darkness started clouding her once brilliant green eyes. She blinked and turned away quickly heading for the castle's front door. Bailee kept walking until she got the tree overlooking the lake. What the hell (excuse my profanity) was happening. She sat at the base of the tree and gazed out across the water. It was about 12:00 in the afternoon and the sun was at its highest. It sparkled across the water. A flock of birds flew past and the clouds drifted by. She heard a frog croaking in the distance. She laid down in the soft grass, her hair sprawled out around her face. The grass blew softly in the wind. Clouds continued to pass as she stared up at the sky. She took a deep breath and let the clean air fill her lungs. She closed her eyes and the sun made her see yellow and orange from her eyelids. Another deep breath. Something about being outside made Bailee feel much better. After a while of sitting and thinking, The sun slowly began to set. The golden light glowed across her face. She felt happy for a moment as if nothing could go wrong. For once she felt that she deserved to see the sunset. All the beautiful colors. She thought she heard a phoenix singing quietly, far away. She sighed. Despite the feeling of happiness, she could still sense the darkness boiling inside her. She wished it would go away. It was ruining everything. The sun was behind the trees now Bailee had missed dinner but that was alright with her. She wondered if anyone had cared she was missing, Probably not, after all she was the reason for all their sufferings. She looked down at her arm. The scar from when Peter Pettigrew's knife had cut her arm was still there. Just like her lighting scar, she would never be able to fully get rid of it. They would both be scars to remind her forever of those horrible nights. She could never escape it.
That night
The sun was set now and it was starting to get cold. Bailee decided it was time to go back to the castle. She did not want to face her friends. She didn't want to have to deal with the whisperings behind her back all day. She just wanted to be alone forever. She started walking back up to the castle. She reached the large front doors. She quietly opened one door and slipped in. She had thankfully brought her bag with her. She took out her invisibility cloak and pulled it on. She followed the hallways and went up the stairs until she got to the gryffindor common room. She pulled off the cloak.
"Out a bit late I see" said the Fat Lady.
"yeah" said Bailee in a hushed tone"
"password?"
said the Fat Lady.
"Bubotuber," said Bailee. The portrait opened. Bailee stepped into the common room. She kept her head down hoping no one would notice her.
"BAILEE LILY POTTER!" Bailee jumped and looked up. Ron was storming towards her followed by Hermione.
"Where the hell have you been all day!" said Ron angrily. Bailee kept quiet for a moment then said
"I was down by the lake," Bailee stated plainly
Ron stared at her for a moment.
"Don't you think we would have been worried at all." he said " I mean you just left this morning and then you disappeared. We had no idea where you had gone, you could have been dead for all we know. You-Know-Who is still out there!"
Bailee thought about this for a moment.
Dead? She thought. For some reason she smiled. She gave out a small giggle.
"Imagine that.'' she said "Dead." she gave another small giggle. "Well i'm going to bed. I'll see you both in the morning." she walked across the common room. She could imagine them staring after her. She climbed the stairs to the girls dormitory. She got into her pajamas which consisted of a large t-shirt she got from the Durlseys and a pair of loose shorts. She went to the bathroom. She brushed her hair and her teeth. When she was done she stared into the large mirror that had little golden leaves and lions surrounding it. Looking back at her was a face with a small smirk on it. Her eyes were no longer emerald green but a sort of dark swirling green with hints of black. She felt light but not as herself. She felt happier like she didn't have to worry about anything. Then a sharp pain blinded her. Her stomach clenched and she felt her own feelings suddenly swirling inside her. She felt the pain and the dread of having to fight Voldemort. She felt the guilt for Cedric's death, after all he had been her boyfriend. Bailee needed this to stop. She had to find a way out. She gripped the edge of the sink and tried to look in the mirror. Green and black were pulsating in her eyes. She had to fight it. She kept staring hard into her reflection trying to hold on to memories. The green stopped and she was staring into the black eyes again. She sighed and turned to leave the bathroom. She left the long cuts she had scraped into her arms. Her own blood in droplets on the floor from running off the sink. The broken glass she had broken from the mirror still stained with blood. She just didn't feel it.
