Bailee unwillingly pulled away gasping for air, still smiling. She looked into Draco's mysterious grey eyes. He looked at her smiling. He took her hand in his. He pulled a silver ring off his finger. It had a small black stone in the middle of it and two dark roses on either side of the round black stone.
"I want you to have this." he said as he slipped the ring onto Bailee's finger. She looked back up at him.
"I love it"
The crickets were still singing.
We should get back to the castle," Bailee said.
"Yeah" Draco agreed.
Still holding Bailee's hand they walked back to the castle together.
They approached the archway again, still dripping wet.
"Should I walk you back to your common room?" Draco asked
"Sure," Bailee said, unable to hold back her smile.
They walked down the hall and climbed the staircases, making small talk as they went along. Bailee was sure she was dreaming. She felt so alive. She hadn't felt this way in months.
Finally they reached Gryffindor tower.
"Good night Bailee... sweet dreams." He gave her a small kiss.
"Good night Draco." she said letting go of his hand.
They lingered for a moment before Bailee turned to face the Fat lady's Portrait.
"I see you too are getting along just fine." she said smiling.
"Yeah," said Bailee. She thought for a moment "I don't know the new password."
"Oh not to worry, I'll let you In."
"Thank you," said Bailee. She stepped into the common room. Ron and Hermionie were at a desk huddling close together. Bailee walked over to them and paused. Ron looked up
"Bailee!" he shouted nearly leaping over the table to get around to her. Hermionie stood up too. "We were just about to go down to the Hospital wing to see you!" exclaimed Hermione
"when did you get out?"
"About and hour ago"
"What!?" said Hermionie and Ron together. "Why didn't you come to see us straight away? And why are you soaking wet?"
"Well," said Bailee. "I wanted to go on a quick walk to just clear my head when it started raining. I went to the edge of the forbidden forest and then Draco came running and was all like "where have you been" and stuff. So I told him I just wanted to get some fresh air. So he gave me his Jacket because it was raining and then..." Bailee paused, the smile returning to her face. "He kissed me." Hermionie squealed, Ron scowled. "He kissed you?, since when... why..."
"And he gave me one of his rings." Bailee said, showing them the silver ring with the small round stone. "That's amazing!" said Hermione beaming. "I always knew you too would get together."
"Yeah I'm really happy!" Bailee said
Ron was still scowling.
"What's got your wand in a knot?" Said Hermionie.
"Nothing." said Ron "But he better not be snogging you every second of the day."
"We won't be." said Bailee reassuringly and defensively.
"I'm going to go to sleep now." she gave a small nod and a smile and walked slowly up the staircase, still thinking about the kiss. She reached the top of the staircase and walked inside her dormitory. She took off her wet clothes and walked over to the bathroom she got into the bathtub and turned on the water. Hot water poured out of the faucet. Steam rose from the tub and pink bubbles formed on the surface. She closed the curtain and sank under the water. Holding her breath she wondered what it would feel like to drown. What would it feel like to have water fill her lungs. She resurfaced. Candles flickered on the edge of the tub. The air was filled with vanilla and rose. Tonight it was another long muggle t-shirt and a pair of navy blue shorts. She got under her covers and carefully placed her arm on her pillow by her head. She took a deep breath and buried her face in her pillow. This time tears of sadness did not come, but tears of happiness. She bit her lip and smiled. Closing her eyes she was ready for anything. Even the days after this one and all the horrible things to come. But for once she was hopeful, for all the good things to come as well.
