TW: mentions of blood
She climbed into bed and pulled the curtains around her bed shut. She didn't get under the covers. She simply laid on top. She cast a simple charm and stars flew out of her wand along with all sorts of different colors. She now stared up at the stars. She didn't want to go to sleep knowing what laid ahead in her nightmares. She heard a couple other girls stumble into the dormitory and they got straight into bed but she lay there quietly gazing up at the galaxies. So far away, she thought.
After a while all was quiet, she slipped out of bed and went over to the window sill. She remembered her first year at Hogwarts and how she had sat here staring up at the moon. Now she was here again, but this time she did not feel excitement coursing through her. She only felt hopelessness and pain. She gazed across the grounds. It really was beautiful. She leaned her head against the cold wall and closed her eyes. She ran her hands through her dark hazelnut colored hair. As she did so she noticed the cuts on her arm. What? She thought. She looked at her arm more closely. There were fresh cuts some long some shorter up and down her arm. When did this happen. She pulled out her wand. She muttered a charm. The cuts seemed to fade slowly but she knew the glamour charm would only last for a little while. She slid down from the windowsill and climbed back into her four poster bead. She closed the curtains again and laid there before closing her eyes and drifting off to her nightmare. She was moving down a long dark corridor. There was a door at the end of the corridor. She knew she had to get to the door. She moved a bit faster stretching out her hand but instead of seeing her hand she saw long pale fingers outstretched. She had to open the door. She had to get what was on the other side...
"Bailee"
"Bailee!"
Bailee woke with a start and quickly looked around. She was not longer in the corridor but in her dormitory. Hermione was standing next to her.
"Bailee someone found blood in the bathroom and the mirror is shattered!" Hermione shouted
Bailee stood up and walked over to the bathroom. She peered inside where 3 other girls were standing trying to clean up all the blood. Bailee picked up a piece of broken glass. She clutched her arm for a second but quickly let go hoping no one would notice. She quickly turned from the bathroom and hurried out of the dormitory. "Bailee!" Hermione called, but Bailee was running now, hurrying past people.
She had to see professor Dumbledore. She was racing down the halls. Finally she reached the large gargoyle outside his office. She didn't know the password. Thankfully Professor Mcgonagall was now coming out of his office. "Hello Ms. Potter" she said with a smile. She looked down to see Bailee holding her arm. "Oh what happened dear" she said reaching for Bailee's arm "oh it's nothing professor, is professor Dumbledore here today" professor Mcgonagall eyes her suspiciously.
"yes he's here" she turned around "lemon drop" she shouted. The gargoyle moved aside. "Thank you," Bailee said, managing a small smile. She walked towards the doors and stepped inside. Professor Dumbledore was sitting at his desk.
"Hello Bailee," he said looking cheerful, "what is it you needed to speak to me about." Bailee pulled up her sleeve. She removed the spell which revealed the deep gashes in her arm now trickling with blood again. Dumbledore looked at her arm. The twinkle in his eye disappeared. He stood up and walked over to her. "What happened?" He said with worry in his eyes.
"That's the thing sir, I don't remember." Bailee said.
"Hmmm, I see. When did you notice it." He said
"Erm..., last night sir. After everyone had gone to bed I was sitting by the window and I noticed it. Then this morning I woke up to everyone freaking out about how there was blood all over the counter and floor in the bathroom. I went to check and I found this on the counter."
She held out the mirror. It was still stained with Bailee's blood. Dumbledore gave a concerned look. He gently took the glass from Bailees hand and walked back to his desk, sitting down to observe the glass.
" was it your intention at any point this year to cause yourself harm?" He said looking up at her. She stayed quiet for a moment. She didn't know how to answer. If she told the truth she was afraid he would blame her for this accident as well.
"No sir." She said. Dumbledore has a small twinkle in his eye. Oh no, he knows I'm lying, Bailee thought.
"Very well, please go down to see madam Pomfrey, she should be able to heal your arm." Bailee quickly turned away, trying not to notice the almost fearful look in Dumbledore's eye. Bailee stopped walking. 'What wa...' her scar burned. It felt like a white hot poker was being pushed through her skull. She felt herself collapse and hit the cold marble floor of Dumbledore's office. Was that blood she could see, glistening on the floor next to her? She tried to look up. She could make out the outline of professor Mcgonagall and someone else. Was that Snape? It didn't matter, two seconds later she blacked out.
